Bardmoor
Everything was fine EXCEPT the pace of play and that was really terrible!
Slooow Play Behind a 5some
What started out as a beautiful day ended with frustration. At the start of my round the starter told us they were short on carts and we needed to go 2 to a cart, no problem there, however the two foursomes ahead of us were using 3 carts (members?) again no problem. The problems begin almost immediately when the 2 groups would meet up on the next tee box and chit chat before teeing off (this really slowed things down). After a dismally slow front nine (over 2 1/2 hours) we made the turn. We thought we were in luck because some of those ahead of us dropped out. On the 11th tee box we noticed that the 4some in front was now a "FIVESOME". I immediately called the pro shop and asked the girl that answered the phone if 5somes were allowed, she hesitated and said I don't know. I asked if something could be done about this and she said she would contact the "cart guys". Obviously no one came out to say anything and we were left to follow these clowns the rest of the way. At one point one guy actually would line up his putts by laying down on the green (Unbelievable). When I finished my round I went to the pro shop only to find it was dark and closed (what more could I expect). I will not return
Complete Disappointment
I’ve traveled to Florida many times to visit my Family and have enjoyed playing all the local courses, which Bardmoor was one of them. Always had a nice time and reasonable rates. So with the pandemic, I haven’t been here for 2 years. Bought my tee time on Golf Now. I showed up at the course 2 hrs before my tee time and was informed at the checkin that they were running 2 hrs behind because of overbooking. Well, my tee time was 1:15 pm. So there was no way to get in 18 holes before dark. So I asked for a rain check to come back another day. A rude answer, Nope. You booked GolfNow and so no rain check. Even though I paid more on Golf Now than there rack rate. Then they said you could walk down and talk to the starter and see if they can fit in a single, which I was. Met the starter, he wouldn’t even make eye contact. He said, while looking somewhere else, nope, no way. Even though a couple threesomes went out. Very frustrating. I walked off after nine. Vowing never to set foot on this golf course again. Good riddance Bardmoor!
Tuesdays at Bardmoor
Our starting time was delayed due to a morning group that brought more groups than booked and were accommodated. The pace of play was - wait on every shot and took 5.5 hours. The course has a storied history and is a great layout with challenge for all levels of golfers. The conditions were about the same as other courses at this time of year: minimal grass on fairways and roughs; greens were fair but their condition was 'average'. We did see one Marshall, but not until the 18th hole, late in the day. They clearly do not have sufficient power carts for the traffic, as they ran out when we played and we observed other people trying to book for other days that it is not unusual to run out of power carts. Tuesdays are evidently not the best day to play this golf course due to overbooking and slow play, according to other players and some staff.
Slow pace of play
We teed off at our exact tee time but after the first shot we waited at every shot. Usually there were two foursomes waiting at each hole to play. The round took us five and a half hour to finish. There was no Marshall to speed up the pace of play. Definitely not worth spending an entire afternoon sitting in a golf cart waiting. Will not go back again. Both foresomes that were in front of and behind us were also dissatisfied. Did not have this problem at any of the other five courses we played.
Not worth the $$$
The only thing nice about the course was that the putting greens were in good shape. Bunkers were basically dirt
Not an Enjoyable Course
They charged $80USD for a course that was in poor condition, everywhere was extremely dry including the greens, which were terrIble with unfixed ball marks, improperly changed holes from the day before that were not flush with the green. They spaced out their tee times by 7 minutes, which made the course extremely slow. Every hole you had to wait at least 5 or more minutes to tee off, groups constantly right behind you as well. This pace of play plus the bad course conditions made this a very poor experience overall. I would not recommend paying more than 40$ to play this course, will definitely not come back here.
Long Day
I like this course. It’s one of my favorite courses in the area. The greens are fast. Unfortunately both times I’ve play there the pace of play was very slow. 5 + hour rounds. My tee time was delayed about twenty five minutes because the course booked a hugh 1 o’clock shotgun start group with a couple of foursomes on each tee. There were three foursomes from the group plus another booking going off the first tee, fifteen minutes before my 1:15 tee time.
Nice course
Bardmoor is a nice course. Played on a rainy day to start and the course held up well. Starter/Marshall was great, helped get us in for our replay an hour earlier than planned. Nice little shack at the turn for burgers, dogs, & drinks. Only issue was a few “league” members jumped our case on #11 saying we were holding up the course playing too slow. We played the front 9 in 1:45 and had not played there before. We did struggle on #10 but I also believe they didn’t stop at the turn. Didn’t play any quicker on the back, again right at 1:45 and they weren’t in sight at 18. Other than that it was a great experience and we will be back.
Plenty of potential
Nice layout. Seems to have a lot of potential, but needs some TLC. A little over-priced for what you get in its current state. The restaurant felt tired. Pro Shop had a good selection of products. Greens were pretty good; fairways and tee boxes were just ok. Would probably not play again with so many other choices in the Clearwater area.
Should have heeded the red flags
I called for a Saturday tee time and was put on hold for over 10 minutes, although the woman would seemingly randomly and brusquely pick up the phone and say please hold.
A few facts.
- the round took 5 hours and 15 minutes to play.
- the halfway house was closed when we made the turn;
- only saw the beverage cart once and that was around the 3rd hole
- the conditioning of the course was pretty sub par for around a $100 greens fee (and for many bunkers it was hard to tell when they began and ended)
- greens were actually pretty true and fast, although looked like mottled and flat grass.
- layouts fine and fun.
Unfortunately probably my first and last time.
