Greens need help
I was surprised at the condition of the course. We have been experiencing a lot of rain lately, and thought the course would have benefited. Definite problem with most greens. Still a good course if maintenance could do a better job.
Down hill
I’ve played at stone crest through the years and it’s never been a pure course, but this is the worst I’ve seen it. Also had an very bad smell throughout the majority of the course.
This course has a great layout, bunkers, slopes water.
New ownership has really put work and money into the course. Fairways look great and wide, issues if your off the fairways, lots of bunkers but they are in good condition, greens have been a challenge but are really coming back and they really are look good. Some challenges around the perimeter of the greens but the ball rolls well and true.
Getting better
The layout of the course is excellent, challenging and makes you think which is refreshing. Used a little bit more clubs in my bag this time around. If there is any small bit of criticism is that the greens need a lot of work, lots of damage to them. Overall the course has the bones to be extremely incredible course just needs a little more TLC. Hopefully a greenskeeper is hired to take care of the green issues and overall a little bit of course management will go along way. It has potential for sure.
Much better than the last time.
There was much improvement from the last time I played Stonecrest. Greens and fairways were cut. Some greens were burnt in areas. Overall, much improvement from the last time.
Greens need a lot of attention
This summer the greens have gotten overgrown with invasive grasses making putting very iffy. Even with the correct speed the ball just bounces around and changes direction often. I have enjoyed the course in the past and like the layout. Hopefully things will improve. For now I will try other courses.
Great layout, poor shape.
The course can challenge you, the condition makes it more challenging. Tees, fairways, and greens need cut and greens rollered. Traps are hard packed and some have weeds in them.
Absolutely Awful
Do not waste your money and play here if you don't hit the ball in the Fairway you will never find your bowl I hadn't lost a ball in six rounds I lost six balls this course is a total disaster and I've played here many times this is the worst it's ever looked
What happened
My wife and I loved this course before, but it is in horrible shape. The greens needed cut along with the rest of the course. We would have driven 45 minutes to play here not now.
Links style course
Very thick tall grass on sides of fairway. Houses close to fairway. Slicer like me hit a few. Course was very nice maintained and designed. Only think didn't like was greens were being aerated at the time. Lots of sand.
How to ruin a great layout.
The layout of the course can be challenging but fair. Each hole is interesting and unique. The problem is that the course is in terrible shape. Tee boxes need cleaned up, the fairways need cut and watered, the greens are bare and bald spots galore. Give up on the "links" and get to work on the course.
Rough needs attention
The course is in pretty good shape, greens are pretty good and fairways are good, but the roughs are overgrown. It appears they haven't been mowed this summer.
great time, where were the golfers?
Had a fun time playing, tee boxes were good, fairways had grass, greens were bumpy - some bad spots and goosegrass. Don't hit into the deep rough, will have a long time looking for your ball. The summer special is $20 for a round, including cart. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Just wondered where all the golfers were, we played all 18 holes and never saw anyone else playing, granted it was hot but no other players?
Conditions of this course is terrible
They closed this course for 2 weeks, to put in improvements. I saw no work done except to let the rough grow to 12 inches slowing the pace of play. There was no aeration done on the greens and fairways and the only green things that were growing, was crabgrass everywhere, especially on the greens. Where there was no crabgrass, there was a lot of bare spots. I have played this course for years, but the new owners are doing something wrong. Don't play here. I won't be back.
nice course, poor greens
it was a nice course with lots of potential, but the greens were bad. lots of bare spots, very bumpy. ball was going down a winding road to the holes.
Great layout, but needs work.
Every hole is a different challenge. Keeps you thinking. Not too difficult but hard to finish. The tees need more grass and greens are cut short and are sandy.(could have been plugged recently?) .Bare spots are prominent. Makes putting difficult.

Terrible conditions. Not worth a $15 green fee.
I've played this course for years and the new owners closed the course for 2 weeks to do an upgrade. Well,, I can't see anything done to improve the course. The greens have alot of bare spots and lots of crab grass on them. Most of them are not puttable. The fairways have very little grass and they have let the second cut of rough grow uncut. It's 6 to 12 inches in some places. If you find your ball, you're lucky to hit a wedge out to the fairway. Now, even if you're a very good golfer, the people in front of you are constantly looking for their balls, slowing down play tremendously. This course us unplayable. I will never go back to Stone Crest. I have never written a review like this and hope I never do again.
