The greens were in outstanding condition! I have played this course over many years but not for the last 3!! I will be playing it again soon!

Course conditions are improving
I used to play Stonecrest quite regularly up until a couple of years ago. But the course started to fall into major disrepair, so I quit playing it (this was about a year or so pre-COVID. First trip back since then, and I was pleasantly surprised at how playable (with a few exceptions) and better maintained the course is, particularly the greens…only 2 of them had significant bare spots. There are no on course amenities other than 2 restrooms (one on each 9) which were clean and well-maintained, so be sure you have water, ice, and snacks. I enjoyed the round, and likely will come back again, and recommend it to my golf buddies. For the price, it is a decent place to get 18 holes in.

Fairways and Greens
Three things I look for in a golf course: smooth, fast greens; lush fairways; well-groomed bunkers. At Silver Springs Shores they got two out of three--the greens and fairways were excellent. The bunkers, however, are another story. Most of them need some serious grooming and, in some cases, some additional sand. And their cart trails are legendary for being in sad shape. But, still, the course is a joy to play and one of the most challenging in the area. It's become one of our favorites over the years and we'll definitely be back.

Wet ground
Due to the recent amount of rain across the area everything is wet. All the lakes were over their banks and some places on the fairways were way to wet to drive on. The 90 degree rule was a good choice for the day. The course conditions were really good considering. Greens were good as were the fairways. Traps will need grooming once things dry out.

Greens and fairways are looking good. A lot of rain has caused a lot of standing water. Bunkers need a lot of work.

Getting a lot better
Course is getting a lot better. However, spread the tee times a bit. I mean the starter said the.last group teed off at 10:22. Our tee time was after 9am and we were backed up thru the 1st 9 holes. Add a couple more minutes between the tee times please. Overall though the course is headed in the right direction.

Stonecrest is Improving!
The greens are green. Tee boxes are more groomed. Fairways are generally good. Sand traps are poor. The rough is quite rough. Overall there is considerable improvement in the last few months.

Continued Improvement
Stonecrest GC continues to get better and better. The fairways have really filled out and the greens were very puttable with just a couple of problem areas--Holes #2 and #3 (but much improved from three weeks ago) and #13. The only drawback is the condition of the bunkers which still need trimming and grooming. But, all-in-all, for the price this is becoming a very good place to play again.
