Needs Maintenance
Starting with the tee boxes - all very HARD ground - difficult to put a tee in them; also the grass on several was too high to get a good feeling of tee height adjustment.
Fairways filled with many weedy grasses and bare spots; rough was punishingly high - way too easy to lose balls that should have been findable.
$45 Senior rate doesn't exactly set "Augusta National" expectations, but The Meadows didn't measure up to other comparably priced courses in the area. I played it before and didn't remember it. being quite as rough, but I won't be back.
Cart Malfunction Mishandled by Staff
The golf carts at this course are electric rather than gas-powered. Unfortunately, this contributed to a serious issue during our round. On hole 5, while approaching a ball for our scramble, the brakes on our cart failed to engage properly. This caused a delay in response followed by a sudden electric jolt, ultimately causing the cart to slide into a small creek.
While the cart malfunction was concerning, the real issue stemmed from how the situation was handled by the clubhouse manager. We immediately returned to inform staff of what had happened, expecting the concern to be met with understanding and a focus on safety. Instead, the manager refused to allow us to continue our round and claimed, without evidence, that a woman had reported us driving erratically. When asked for specifics—such as the time or location of the alleged behavior—she was unable to provide any. She also stated that I would be held personally responsible for the incident, despite it being clearly caused by a failure of the course’s own equipment.
As someone who respects the game and its courses, I found this response both unprofessional and disappointing. I have spent weekends playing at respected courses such as Annandale (a former PGA Tour stop), Oak Mountain, Highlands, and several on the Robert Trent Jones Trail. I value course etiquette and always treat both the property and staff with respect.
Unfortunately, that same level of respect was not reciprocated by the management at this course. Rather than taking accountability for a potential equipment failure, the manager chose to make unfounded accusations and dismiss our concerns. This experience left a very negative impression and raises questions about both safety and customer service standards at this facility.
