Nice Layout
Considering how wet it has been we drove almost everywhere we'll be back this summer to see fully green.....
Enjoyable afternoon in the hills north of Birmingham
This isn't quite mountain golf but they have gas powered carts for a reason. There are a couple of holes that area a real test. I enjoyed the layout.
The pro was very friendly.
This course wasn't completely drained so it was a challenge to force myself to hit down onto the dormant grass that was soggy.
Beautiful
This is a beautiful course, especially for the money. When on the top of the mountain, you can see miles and miles! Greens are above average.
Golf now problem
So I got the course ready to play only to find out they no longer accept Golfnow and wouldn’t allow me to play because they’re having issues.
Could be great!
My GPS took me thru several Scenic, winding back roads to find this course. Entering the driveway my high expectations were gradually degrading only based on visuals of the club house with “country club” in its name, but it’s a Saturday, the sun is shining and I’m about to play golf so I’ll make the best of it.
Walking up to the clubhouse I could infer that this facility has been around for some time as to why some of its facility features were dated, but again I’m here to play the course!
Staff was friendly and accommodating although it appeared that they didn’t expect the number of golfers onsite because of scrambling to get carts prepped.
Rain over the last few days was obvious on the course but no fault of there own, thanks meteorologists.
The Good-the layout of this course is spectacular. The holes are framed throughout the terrain that makes every hole fun to play and different. It’s a shotmakers course in which many holes require placement vs. length. Elevation changes promoted thinking but also for great scenery. Hole 18 surrounding the lake was very picturesque. Played it from the white tees around 6400 yards I believe.
The bad-this course has the ability to be a premier course in the area, IF more time and money was spent on course maintenance(tee boxes, fairways and greens). The tee boxes were bare, the fairways were defined but spotty and the greens were “puttable” but still could use some attention.
Overall- I would play this course again and look forward to seeing how this course shapes up. My only concern would be based on the pro shop stating “this is the best shape the course has been in some time“, makes me believe that the conditions are as good as it gets. Hopefully I’m wrong. Still enjoyed playing the course, get a good maintenance crew and this will be a gem!
Winter Round
We teed off right on time. The setup was good, the greens were consistent and quick.
Due to a temp of 40 degrees few ppl were willing to play. Our experience was wonderful.
Me and my son teed from the tips, my daughter and my Mom putted on each green.
The conditions were wet and muddy but it did not deter us in the least. The layout was a challenge-no birdies were made but it was fair.
I recommend it to anyone who can play a little.
It stretched out to near 7,000 yards. I shot 82 and my son 96. We were both challenged to the nth degree!
Amazing value
This course was a treat. Conditions were average. Layout was tricky, a few blind tee shots, greens were very slick with the grain and crowned. Pace of play was exemplary, finished 18 in 3 hours. Amazing 18th hole where it pays to hit it long. The lady in the clubhouse was super friendly!
Home course
This is a course I grew up playing. Great course and they’re continuing to make it better!
Great layout
Great layout of this course. lots of interesting shots. Not a "grip it and rip it" course at all. Greens were in good shape although pretty fluffy. Could be because of the time of year. Lots of rough patches on the sides of the fairways. All in all good value for money.
Coffee was free!
Gem of a Course
The only thing better than the course was the friendliness of the employees. Great layout with every hole different. Wish I lived in the area to be able to play more often.
Quick round on a challenging course for a great price. That says it all.
Enjoyable layout
Enjoyed the front nine and then really enjoyed the last 5-6 holes.
Has a lot of different looks.
Some classic holes.
Some big elevation.
Greens a little slow but there were in great shape.
The fairways are Bermuda that are in great shape allowing the ball to sit up perfectly.
Would definitely play here again.
Worth your money.
Friday Fun Day
Fun and challenging course. Played in a threesome in under 3 hours..
Hidden Gemstone
This well hidden gem of a golf course right off Hwy 79 is well worth playing as often as you can. This outstanding layout has six valley holes to get your interest peaked and warm up your game before heading uphill for eight beautifully prepared mountain holes. The folks at RTG wish they had eight upland holes in a row this good but trust me they don’t . Next you come down from the highlands to finish with four more excellent valley holes including a risk reward cut of as much water as you dare 18th finishing hole. The greens are still in perfect shape and proper speed.
