Fast and friendly

The pace of play was fast (under 3 hours on a Sunday afternoon). The greens rolled beautifully and fast. The staff was friendly, as were most of the tee shots. it had a nice mix of friendly holes and tough ones. The pin placements were tough but made it fun. Overall we had a great day.

website hacked

When we checked in for our tee time we were told the course website was hacked into and there were numerous booked tee times (we were one of four with the same tee time). The staff did what they could to correct it by decreasing the bill and giving us free range ball. Overall the course was in good shape with fast greens. Being overbooked the pace of play was VERY SLOW (5 1/2 hours). I would recommend calling the course to check on your tee time when booking through GOLFNOW or any other website.

Very slow play

They double booked T times which made for a very slow round. We stopped playing after 4 1/2 hours and only being at hole 12.

Quiet and off the beaten path

Great setting for a golf course. Quiet country setting with a challenging course. Variety of tees that can challenge the beginners to the advance players. Greens are huge and well maintained.

Worth the ride

I live an hour away but it's worth the ride. The staff is friendly, the food is always good, and the course is always in great shape. The views are nice especially in the fall.

An Affordable Gem..

I played Sugarloaf with a buddy of mine and we were thoroughly impressed with the course conditions. It was my first time playing there in a long time. The course was in fantastic shape. Fairways and rough were quite lush and well maintained. The greens were in remarkable shape and were pretty quick. The course proved quite challenging. I definitely enjoyed the round and would like to play there again real soon. I just wish it was closer to my house.

Beautiful course, beautiful setting

Sugarloaf is a hidden gem, slightly off the beaten path. The course is in wonderful shape. There are a couple off lengthy par 3s and also the bunkers play fair. But beware of the greens; they were scary fast , some with different tiers. You need to get within 8-10 feet for a chance to make your putts

fair course with nice size greens

course was in good condition, the only thing it needs are 150yd markes in the fairway so you can judge the depth and not drive through the fairway and shows you the direction of the hole.

A Gem

Play among Pennsylvania farm land with bucolic views off many tees. Be advised, playing from the blues involves playing a 266 yard par 3 with a creek in front at the 200 to 220 distance. You'll need to flight the ball a full 240 yards. I found the whites challenging enough. Traps are well groomed though they lack the fine white sand. Its a coarser product with the occasional small rock. Fairways are beautifully maintained and fairly wide. Everybody on staff has a genuine air of helpfulness. If ever I pass through the area again I'll make a special effort to tee it up here again. Try El Mariachi's Mexican restaurant. The neighborhoods rough but the food is great.

One of the best public courses for the money!!

Play this course often found it on golfnow @ discounted rate what a steal. Course is always well maintained except for a few bunkers but they are working on them. The greens are some of the best in the area & true to putt on. You can't go wrong if you are looking for an enjoyable round in the scenic Sugarloaf valley.

Great first round of the year

Course was in great shape and our pace of play may have been more related to some average players in our foursome. Value on Golf Now was excellent as our foursome played for less than $100 all in. Course is pretty wide open which provides some flexibility for first round of the year. Overall very positive experience.
