Golf Advisor: Top Courses in Pennsylvania (2015 #7)
Reviews
fair course with nice size greens
course was in good condition, the only thing it needs are 150yd markes in the fairway so you can judge the depth and not drive through the fairway and shows you the direction of the hole.
A Gem
Play among Pennsylvania farm land with bucolic views off many tees. Be advised, playing from the blues involves playing a 266 yard par 3 with a creek in front at the 200 to 220 distance. You'll need to flight the ball a full 240 yards. I found the whites challenging enough. Traps are well groomed though they lack the fine white sand. Its a coarser product with the occasional small rock. Fairways are beautifully maintained and fairly wide. Everybody on staff has a genuine air of helpfulness. If ever I pass through the area again I'll make a special effort to tee it up here again. Try El Mariachi's Mexican restaurant. The neighborhoods rough but the food is great.
One of the best public courses for the money!!
Play this course often found it on golfnow @ discounted rate what a steal. Course is always well maintained except for a few bunkers but they are working on them. The greens are some of the best in the area & true to putt on. You can't go wrong if you are looking for an enjoyable round in the scenic Sugarloaf valley.
Great experience
The course was in great shape, greats were in excellent condition and rolled very nice
Nice Course
Nice Course - Well taken care of - lots of blind tee shots
Great first round of the year
Course was in great shape and our pace of play may have been more related to some average players in our foursome. Value on Golf Now was excellent as our foursome played for less than $100 all in. Course is pretty wide open which provides some flexibility for first round of the year. Overall very positive experience.
Fun coarse
Had a good time , course not over booked, nice steady pace of play. Course in good shape for early season, will be great in summer, can tell the staff cares. Will be back as much as possible .
Coming along nicely..
Sugarloaf is one of my favorite courses! Played there earlier and it was nice, but with aerified greens, it wasn't fun putting. The greens have healed, are rolling nicely, and the rest of the course is starting to green up too! A few weeks, maybe a month, and this course will be pristine!! I'd recommend it to anybody, especially those who can't keep ball in play. Sugarloaf is open enough that you can get in trouble, but still have a chance at scrambling for pars.
course still rough from winter
Very windy day and the course was still in tough shape from the winter. The greens still had spike holes from last seasons airation.
Bubba Buoy
Considering the winter/spring we've had the course was very playable. Was a beautiful day which has been rare so this is why pace of play was quite slow. This course come summer is a top course in the area. Greens are always incredible that roll true and consistent. I probably will play this course 15-20 times this year. Worth every penny.
Superb scenery.
Very nice course and friendly personnel, beautiful scenery, really enjoyed it.
Great layout
Nice corse with good conditions and super friendly staff. Recommend Sugarloaf.
OK value for the money
Nice views but too many blind shots off tee. Rough in need of repair. Greens OK.
well maintained
course was in excellent shape for late sept. play here often, always maintained
great layout
course is in prestine shape fairways to greens greens are very well manicured and fast well taken care of fall rates are a deal will be back to play a lot more times
Great value
Greens roll fast. Tee boxes need some work. Beautiful views!!
sugarloaf good course for the money
course very enjoyable, greens and fairways in great shape roughs were a little dry, not grown in, overall a good course to play
Many Blind Tee Shots.
This course was challenging mostly due to the number of blind tee shots. Without prior knowledge of the course, we felt a huge disadvantage. A course guide book or specific information at each tee would make playing here more enjoyable. The best part of the course is the beautiful scenery and well kept fairways and greens. A great value for the cost.
