Nice stop on a drive thru central CA
Played at noon in the middle of summer, so it was hot, and the wind picked up through out the afternoon, but very few people were on the course and the turf conditions were good.
Challenging
Found a deal on golf now, made it well worth the money. Challenging course, backside even more so. Fast greens, rolled through. Quite a few blind shots if you’re not in the right spot. I look forward to playing it again.
Hunter Ranch
Rode the Blues (6751/72.7/138) in 5H mid day on a GN Hot Deal. Paired up with Ricky, Nate and Clint, all Cal Poly students. Nice guys to play with, they kept things fun. Partly cloudy, breezy and around 80, almost perfect golfing weather.
The tees were mostly lush and most were well maintained for divots. Some could use leveling.
The fairways play really nice, They have a good cushion and are mostly lush poa annua.
The rough was mostly lush close to the fairway, thinner the farther you got from the fairway all the way to hardpan under the many oak trees.
The sand traps were nicely raked. However, all the ones I was in were too thin/crusty to be considered good.
The large, undulating greens were smooth and putted medium fast. GREAT greens here! They were receptive to holding iron shots.
Challenging layout in very nice condition. Easily the best course within at least 50 miles in all directions. Hilly with fairways framed by oak trees. Few level lies anywhere on this course. The fairways are generous in size, the rough is really mowed down compared to what I experienced here this spring. Nice all grass driving range. Busy restaurant on site that many local non golfers eat at. The customer service was good in the pro shop, cart gal out making the rounds. Highly Recommended.
Central Cal gem
Rode the Blues (6751/72.7/138) in 4.5H mid day on a GN Hot Deal. Matched up with Dave, Nick and Greg, very fun group to play with! Partly cloudy, windy and around 75 made for some challenging conditions.
The tees were semi lush and most were well maintained for divots. Some could use leveling and every par 3 needed divot attention.
The fairways have a few brown spots but play better than they look. Mostly lush poa annua, nice to play from.
The rough was mostly lush close to the fairway, thinner the farther you got from the fairway. Very playable, no longer is there the calf deep clover and wild grass from several months ago.
The sand traps had nice quality sand and were excelently maintained.
The large, undulating greens were firm, smooth, medium fast and putted great. Best greens I have putted on in awhile.
The fairways are generous in size, the rough is mostly mowed down and if you get off in the oaks it is hardpan. Hilly layout with fairways framed by oak trees. Few level lies anywhere on this course. Nice all grass driving range. Good restaurant on site. The customer service was good, right out on #1 tee at my tee time. Challenging layout in very nice condition. Highly Recommended.
beautiful course
we started on the back, breezed thru in 1.5 hrs, when we got on the front 9, waited on every shot, quit on 5, took over 2 hrs to play 1-5, great challenge, nice fast greens, nice people in pro shop
1st Round @ Hunter Ranch
Treated myself to a round of golf at a very popular course here in Paso Robles Ca where I live. I was paired with two other great guys who had also booked with the golf now app and just had a great round on a great course. Can't wait to play there again.
Great value for the money!
Paid $105 per player. Course in fantastic shape. Great restaurant. All in all a perfect round of golf. Will be back
NIce
First time on course, was paired with 3 great gentlemen..Course in good shape...was told course up for sale...hope someone buys and keeps course open...but it is California and so many courses are housing tracks now...
Worth The Green Fees
The course was in excellent condition. I was paired with 3 other golf now members two have played the course several times. You need local knowledge on the course a lot of blind shots.
Hunter Ranch
Stopped by on my way back from Salinas to a course I played once before, and I enjoyed it immensely both times. A hot deal from GN, and a little luck from the weather, save for the mostly windy conditions, and a good start to my round made for a most enjoyable day. Tee boxes, fairways and the greens were In excellent condition. The greens were fast and undulating and sometimes difficult to read, but they did roll true. I was a single, and had little trouble playing through several groups of three and four golfers, thus I was able to complete my round in about 3 1/2 hours.
I highly recommend that if you are in the area, you give this course a try.
John and Jean PGL
Course in great shape. League required all men play from white tees. Over 6300 yards. Long way for a 67 year old. This course is awesome.
Hunter Ranch
Rode the Blues (6751/72.7/138) in slightly more than 5H as a very nice 4some mid day on a GN Hot Deal. This was not a slow group, the POP was directly attributable to the wind and the heigth of the rough. Especially the 6" tall patches of clover everywhere. Windy and partly cloudy in the 60's. 2 club wind most of the round.
The tees were mostly lush and were well maintained for divots. Some could use leveling.
The fairways are mostly lush poa annua, nice to play from.
The rough was mostly lush close to the fairway, with hardpan farther off the beaten path. The challenge is that under the oaks it is often 6" to 12" high because they have not mowed there in awhile. There are many areas on nearly every hole that has large areas of clover that is 6" tall barely off fairways. Seemed like almost every hole we had one or more balls that were not that bad of a shot that we practically had to step on to find it.
The sand traps had nice quality sand and were excently maintained.
The large, undulating greens were firm, smooth, medium fast and putted very nice.
Very challenging layout, hilly with fairways framed by oak trees. Few level lies anywhere on this course. The fairways are generous in size, and you currently need to avoid the rough. Nice all grass driving range. No GPS on the basic carts and no drink cart. The customer service was good, right out on #1 tee at my tee time. Highly Recommended.

The tees were semi lush and most were well maintained for divots. Some could use leveling.
The fairways look really nice mowed like a checkerboard. Mostly lush poa annua, nice to play from.
The rough was mostly lush close to the fairway, thinner the farther you got from the fairway.
The sand traps had nice quality sand and were excently maintained.
The large, undulating greens were firm, smooth, medium fast and putted great.

First class golf course and restaurant
I play at Hunter Ranch nearly every time I visit Paso Robles. The efficient staff get you out on time. The pro shop is well-stocked. The course is beautifully maintained in a setting surrounded by vineyards.
The restaurant is fabulous! The seafood omelette is my favorite breakfast entree in the region. All the food is outstanding. Happy hour after golf is great.
A bit windy and that made some holes very challenging. However, I got a great deal on GolfNow.com and played with three youngsters for a fun day.
Premier Golf Course
Anyone who knows the Central Coast, knows this golf course. It is a challenging, but fair course that is appropriate for all levels of calls. The beginner will find it extremely challenging but they will learn how to manage their game. The advanced will find it just challenging enough to make it enjoyable.
