Poor drainage. Poor course conditioning. Annoying Cart / GPS nannying. Some interesting holes and layout., but over priced
Hunter Ranch
The guy in the pro shop basically treated me like a second class citizen because I paid through golf now. I worked in the golf industry and know how to keep t-times on track. My buddy and I showed up early warmed up and asked the shop if we could go ahead since no one was on or waiting to tee off. We were told that there was a two some going in front of us then we could go. 15 minutes later, the twosome still had not shown up so I went in and asked again if we could go. He said that he had customers that paid full price so they had the right to tee off in front of us. I told him I understood that but they never showed up. Then he said go ahead because they went to the driving range. We could have teed off a good 30 minutes prior to this. Sorry for looking for t-time deals Hunter Creek staff. This left a bad taste in my mouth about this place.
Nice but needs review before playing
I will defiantly be play again once the repairs have been made due to January storms.
No cart
I understand no carts when it’s unnecessary on the course but having to walk without notice is unacceptable. I paid cart fee and told to walk. My 70 year old father in law is in pain today due to is.
Golf Etiquette
We had a party in front of us that brought a dog that was pooping on the green. Multiple kids running around, they held up numerous parties. As we take the turn, I went in and told the guy about the party. He tells me there is nothing he can do as they also paid for their round. I asked about the Marshall and he said there was no Marshall. He advised that I jump ahead but I would have to be in within an hour and 20 mins as carts needed to be in by 5. I said I paid for my round and this wasn’t right. He shook his head and proceeded to walk away. There is no golf etiquette at this course and the employees do not care about the golfers.
AZ courses are in better shape in July!!!! Never AGAIN!!!!!!!!
Always a good time
Hunter Ranch is very nice course. Love the layout and the greens. In winter the fairways are a little thin but fine. Other than that Hunter is always a good time.
Fun Round at Hunter Ranch
I booked a Hot Deal for Hunter and played with 3 others who also booked the Hot Deal. The staff was great and helpful as it had been many years since I had played Hunter. The course was in great condition. The bunkers had plenty of sand....I tried out about 3 of them! The back nine has several challenges to carry over water or ravines. Greens were rolling pretty fast.
Perfect Afternoon
Can't say enough good things about the experience. Fantastic fairways, well manicured greens, friendly staff, perfect weather.
Awesome Gem on the Central Coast
Hunter Ranch was awesome. What a gem. Staff was friendly, the course was in great condition, the grill was awesome, and we enjoyed ourselves immensely. It was almost 100 degrees which ended up being a little hot, but our tee time started at 11:50am so I'll definitley play earlier if I can next time. I will definitely be back.
Amazing Greens
All in all a great test of golf with some of the best greens we have played on for some time. Perhaps the severe dog legs on the par 5s were the only blemish. A perfect place to break up our journey through California.
Beautiful course!
Great course, but the back half is too tough for me with a 35 handicap. My husband loved it
Family trip and day for golf at Hunter Ranch
Hunter Ranch is a challenging course from any of the tee levels. The course sits on a bluff above surrounding vineyards and while providing a steady flow of charming vistas, it nevertheless keeps your playing attention with some very challengingly designed holes. No sense of hole repetition at Hunter Ranch, nor is there any feel that holes are piled side by side. Due to the unique design and clever use of trees and slopes, each hole played gives one the feel of being in its own hole wilderness and singularity.. The condition of the course on the day played on the 15th of September, 2022 was excellent, which is special considering the drought conditions being experience by most of California. Speed of play was also good, as well as helpful assistance from the Hunter Ranch staff.. If there was a disappointment at Hunter Ranch it had nothing to do with the golf course itself. Following the round at Hunter Ranch, my family looked forward to the usually unbelievable offerings at the restaurant on the grounds. Much to our surprise the restaurant had been taken over by new ownership and we found the food unsatisfactory. We missed the obvious sign upon entering of seeing few to no patrons. Under the previous ownership and management the restaurant was always bustling, with a mixture of golfers and business patrons from the local environ. While food was a sad note, the course played as has always been promised, and anticipated: competitive and well kept. Hopefully we will be back soon!
