Apache Creek Golf Club
About
Although there are many other desert golf courses in the Phoenix area, Apache Creek Golf Club offers one challenging championship course that requires the use of every club. The golf course features wide open fairways and undulating greens that are sloped back to front, some are also double-tiered. There are also numerous sand and grass bunkers protecting the fairways and greens. Extensive mounding on the course cause uneven lies and water hazards come into play on a few holes. The most difficult of the several demanding holes on this golf course, is the lengthy par-5, 10th hole. Apache Creek Golf Club also boasts two practice greens, a pitching and chipping green with a sand trap, and a large driving range with various targets.

Mixed Greens but not the Healthy Ones
Course conditions were overall great (thanks to the rain this area has received) BESIDES roughly 5 holes’ tee boxes being under renovation. Like, all tees besides the tips were moved up to 1/4 the distance. Would’ve liked to be notified of said renovations but overall a good day.
Greens in fairways
I was so impressed I was shocked how nice the fairways were grass everywhere the best I've seen it in years The owner definitely puts a lot of time and effort into getting his crew to get this correct but I won't buy golf balls there to hit for the range balls very expensive they go with the prices out in Scottsdale I'm not going to drive that far to Scottsdale or Apache Creek to spend that kind of money on golf balls just to hit when I can spend in the Gilbert area for a lot less but that just a preference of mind of not blowing extra money I will pay what they want for the golf course it was well worth it You can read the greens a little faster than around the valley but in excellent condition
GOOD
Pace of play was good. Fairways and greens good. Price was good. Sand traps could be better but that normal in AZ. Overall had a good day. Will play again.
So-So Course brought down by antsy Starter.
This being my first time at Apache Creek, I was excited to take on a new course. My foursome arrived about an hour early to our 7:22am tee time to get some swings in at the range and sink some putts before our round. After roughly 20m of range time, the starter asked if we would like to start early as the group ahead of us was exceptionally late. We approached the first tee and the starter proceeded to ask for clubhouse receipts for our tee time, never had this happen in my 20 years of play.
I will note that this starter was an older man of retiree age who asked a group of 3 young black men and a Latino man for their proof of purchase at a low-rate 18-hole public course. Regardless, we showed our receipts and headed to the tee box.
Immediately after we hit our first tee shot, the group that was intended to be ahead of us showed up. This immediately set a pace of "Hurry the heck up" that the starter was set on enforcing.
The starter followed us from hole to hole for the entire front nine. When we stopped to pick up our food, which we had ordered ahead on the course, he told us we had "3 minutes" to get to the 10th tee.
Now, let me tell you this course is a maze.. the cart paths don't exist and are comprised of gravel tracks and you WILL be relying on your better judgement to determine where you should be driving. This along with the odd course layout (Not all holes have a clear path leading to the next tee) will back your group up slightly.
Even in light of this, while taking our time we still finished in about 3:45M which is ahead of pace for the average 18 hole 72 par course.
This course expected pace of play to be 3:30m so don't expect a fun time, and if you're not the typical older white gentleman who shows up expect the starter to treat you poorly.
Won't be coming back, the course isn't worth the hassle.
great time
Playing in July courses can be in tough shape. But I was very impressed with the overall conditions. Was it Augusta National in April, no, Fairways were covered in grass, Greens were very good, firm but fair. Pace of play was a quick as we wanted to play.
Poor Management
My family and I had been playing at Apache Creek for years until today. Despite the Youth On Course app listing the price as $5 for juniors, the manager adamantly refused to honor the Youth On Course price for my teen son and his friend. When I tried to politely explain that I had numerous receipts from this summer showing the $5 prior charges, he insisted that the app was wrong and I was lying. His lack of professionalism was shocking. Apache Creek fails miserably at upholding basic customer service standards and instead chooses to belittle loyal patrons, including kids. I cannot recommend this course to anyone until there is a change in management's behavior and they fix their pricing inconsistencies. Regarding the conditions, if you prefer hitting off dirt rather than grass, Apache Creek is the course for you!
In excellent shape for the time of year
Tees were average but fairways and greens were in very solid shape with green grass. Their overall condition beat out everything I’ve played in the last month except for WeKoPa. The bunkers were pretty compacted. Certainly a good value with open early tee times.
Great June golf
Mother nature blessed us with an overcast sky so the golf was stupendous! Greens were a little shaggy which made reads tough but outside of that, fairways were in fantastic shape especially given the time of year. I went with a former coworker and his 13 year old son who were first timers, and they loved the layout. Great course for $40! Only knock is that there are a TON of beginners out here which slows down the pace. Also, be alert! Balls are flying everywhere and these beginners forget to yell FORE!!!
Best
This course is the best the desert has to offer . Well taken care of with greens and tee boxes in great shape.
No water in summer
No water on course, you have to buy 3 drinks to get an ice cooler. Pretty basic stuff for a course in Arizona in June.
Slow Play and Kids Running Amock
First time golfing here. Front 9 are narrow fairways so many golfers end up in the desert areas. Course greens are really dry. Slow play! Kids hopped on the course on hole 11 in front of us and talked to the cart girl for 8 minutes while their ball was on the green and wouldn’t finish out until they were done talking. Kids proceeded to hack up the course and not replace divots. Marshall was not helpful once we brought this to his attention. Won’t be back!
Nice day at Apache Creek
Light wind made for a nice day. Course in best shape I had ever seen it! Will be back. A bargain. Thanks.
A pretty good course
Apache Creek on this day May 27, 2024 was in pretty good shape.
The Range was grass (Yea!) and the balls were pretty good.
The greens were rolling nicely. The fairways and tees were cut and in good shape.
The food in the snackbar was fine.
Overall I say it was reasonable value and experience.
.
They do a nice job at this course.
fine but dusty dry, no water on course, no cooler on cart
The marshall kept lurking the entire time, made everyone feel rushed but you can only go as fast as the group ahead, first course we saw a marshall do this...maybe the marshall should just bug the front group to go faster (trickle effect). Super dusty course due to so much sand/dirt, so winds kick up a lot of dirt. Water along the way or at least coolers to keep drinks cold should be offered for the price you pay.
