Nice Day
Nice day for January. Course a little wet but playable. Greens very difficult due to spotty condition, sand, old aeration holes and nothing being level. Not my favorite course but was enticed to play due to the $20 green fee. Probably not going back.
Rough condition right now
This course is in bad condition right now. The greens are really bad, very lumpy and covered in dead spots and disease. The pace of play is not great either and the marshals pretty much just say hello and do nothing about having 4 groups backed up on one hole. I usually enjoy this course, but I won't be back for quite some time now. It's really gone downhill unfortunately.
I love this course... however, it has been in better conditions
This time the course was not in its prime... I know a lot of rain has affected the Spring area in the last months and Management will do its best to bring it back to what it has always been: a great course for its value.
Nothing has changed here... so sad.
I haven’t played here in years because of the course conditions. Came out to see if it has gotten better.... and nope nothing has changed. On the 9th hole of the Post Oak an old rude marshal was yelling at us “what are you doing here” & “ you’re not supposed to be here, we have a tournament about to go off”. Instead of yelling from his golf cart 50ft away how about stopping and telling us about this tournament will some respect. I would have gladly showed him my receipt that shows we’re booked to play Post to Pine course. It wasn’t our fault it took 2 hours 45 minutes on a Thursday to play the front 9. After that hole I decided to go home. I tried to find that geriatric marshal who volunteers to be out there to check his rude attitude. Couldn’t find him so I left. After reading the other reviews I see that they have issues with their rude staff. We (golfers) are your bread and butter and are the reason you’re still in business. I guess I’ll continue to play private courses through my Club Corp program where they call me Mr. Angulo. I get nothing but love and respect from them. Get it together Longwood!!
Starter Issue
I've played this course over 25 times and have never had an issue. Great value for the round of golf. My most recent visit was by far the most awkward and uncomfortable of them all. Myself and a guest checked in the with the starter and once we were a assigned a cart and walking away, starter yells to us "When you drive over the creek, be sure to throw that Nike hat and shirt into the creek. Nobody wants to see that crap."
We have always worn Nike Golf and didnt even think twice about it when getting ready. We felt awkward and uncomfortable after the starters remarks.
Great Condition
This course is in excellent condition, the greens are as good as they have ever been.
AWFUL pace of play
I’m a single digit handicap, came out for a decent Saturday morning price. Fairways were in great shape, greens were in good shape when they didn’t have big dead spots in them. Almost every green had dead and baron spots in them, which was frustrating. This wasn’t enough to keep me from coming back but the PACE OF PLAY will make me stay away. Took almost 3 hours to play 9 holes. No marshalls monitoring groups. Holes were stacked up with 3 groups on them at times. Be prepared for a 5+ hour round. This course needs to reconsider tee time spacing to fix this issue. It’s out of hand.
Excellent condition
Longwood is in excellent condition! Greens are running true and fairways are plush. Great experience today!
Great value
First time out. Nice staff. Well kept grounds. Pretty challenging greens. Well worth the money. 27 holes to pick 18 from. Make different combinations each time
Best layout in Northwest Houston but a few issues to be aware of
Weekdays are a pretty good time to play here. The staff is friendly, atmosphere is casual, and the meals are surprisingly good for buffet style. The course has over the past few years struggled with the greens. They have bare spots and disease-ridden areas in many of them. The course has also struggled with drainage so any rain seems to make the round filled with unplayable areas. The layout on the 3 9’s is fun and has some challenges. However they book them in tight and pace of play is normally in the 5+ hour range which doesn’t make it a whole lot of fun in the summer.
Good course/poor attitude
Was able to play palmetto and post for the 18 holes (split into 9 holes). The course was in average to good condition. It has some real potential to be great but they can't seem to get It all together. The greens we at best average. Some had large, what appeared to be mold spots that were reduced to dirt and we not fair to putt through. I put poor attitude because the staff always appears to be agitated by golfers, or at least me trying to golf. They are always short and seem to be in a bad mood. In the 5 years I have frequented this course I have not seen anyone but the female in charge of memberships smile. I played as a single and was able to get around the slow groups and finish the round in 2 and a half hours. Tee time was around mid afternoon for reference for those that try to get on and off the course before losing 20 lbs of sweat.
