Good place
My first time here at Longwood. I like that there’s 27 holes so when I come back I get a potentially different course. People at the pro shop and the starter (yes, the starter) all were very personable and welcoming. There’s a nice driving range, putting green, and short game area , which is nice. I had a 10:14 am tee time and ended up playing the first 13 holes by myself. Pace of play was great. Group in front of me waited for me on 14 to see if I wanted to join them. Nice folks.
Course is a nice layout. Plenty challenge for me. Lots of tree-lined fairways. Houses along some fairways but they were back enough for me. Some water hazards. This time of year the course is in “winter condition”. Grass is mostly still dormant and there’s plenty of tight lies. Greens were good, almost slow. After my round we had a drink in the clubhouse, which seemed fairly nice. I will definitely play here again!
Overall pretty good
Pro shop and starter folks were very friendly and welcoming. Cart in great shape. Nice practice range, putting green, and chipping area. I liked the challenge of the course and layout. I’d say the fairways and tee boxes were in “winter” condition, with a lot of tight lies and grass-less areas . Greens seemed slow perhaps recently sanded? Price is reasonable for the area. Enjoyed a drink after my round in the bar area and it was very reasonable.
Longwood
Great layout but needs tlc. Greens are greatly improved but better general maintenance of fairways, tees, and areas around greens would help improve the overall experience.
Needs improvement
I have played this course at least once a week for last 6 months. Course has gone downhill in past few weeks likely due to all the rain and cold weather lately. Greens were super slow with lips around numerous cups. Tees boxes are rough and bare spots/weeds on half of greens. I will be going elsewhere to play until conditions improve.
It's decent for the money.
It's a great neighborhood course. Prices are decent. We've had a couple bad experiences here, but all in all it's pretty consistent.
The layout is excellent. The greens were all grass. Sand traps had water or were mud. Fairways and tee boxes were average for this time of year. Overall I was satisfied with the course and pace of play.
An Interesting Course For Sure
This is a very interesting course in that it is a bit difficult to figure out exactly where the next tee box is, on a few of the holes. Got to go out as a single so pace of play was great...course not very busy. The fairways and greens were in good shape. Greens held well and puttted nicely. Enjoyed the challenge of the holes, even though a couple of times not exactly sure where to hit the tee ball. There are some very tough holes that require a big tee ball and a long iron. Was a fun day on a fun course.
Free round
I booked a tee time on the app for 8:14. Got there around 7:30 to get loose. Not a soul was there beside me. Pro shop was dark and the parking lot was empty. I thought maybe they didn’t open till. 8 do I putted around for a bit and no one ever showed. So I walked the course.
Very nice signage at each hole with a brief explanation of the hole and carry distances to trouble areas or the hot spots.
The fair ways were in good condition and the greens were rock but smooth. (I played in 30 degree weather)
Fun layout with a lot of twists and turns. Highly recommend playing a round out here.
Great greens
Course in fine condition-- tees boxes, fairways and especially greens.
Once the slowish foursome ahead of us let us play through, we flew through the course. It would help if there were marshals.
7 out of 10
Had a great time out at longwood. Fairways are pretty narrow and you’re golfing out in the woods, so if you aren’t striking the ball well you could have a pretty rough day in the trees. The greens could use some work, although for fall golf, I thought they were decent. A lot of fairly straight putts. Driving range is on the smaller side. I thought the layout of the course was pretty cool. Signs to the next hole are very minimal so if it’s your 1st time playing here make sure you pay attention. Could very easily end up lost on a different tee box haha. All in all 7 out of 10 course.
