In bad shape
More mud than grass. Greens are horrible. No sand in the traps. Not a single trap was raked. A ton of better courses in houston at this price. Long wood has seen better days.
Course needs update and Maintenance
this is a high volume course which causes much wear and tear on the course. the management team has not invested enough in the course to bring it back to the shape it has been by prior management. the carts are a mix of gas and electric (cart battery terminals are corroded and do not hold charge) and you never know if they will run the whole 18 holes. the course needs much trimming as bushes have grown over the paths. The paths have few signs and directions difficult. Paths are rough and dirty. the fairways have bare spots and the greens are not cut and rolled regularly. Green play is tough as hole placement on the weekends are in difficult positions which delays play. there are few signs on this 27 hole course so you can get lost finding your way around. there is a big push for "pace of play" which often ruins your concentration on the game. Appears there is the most emphasis in getting more players on the course (at 8 minute separation in T-Times) and increasing profit rather than offering a good golfing experience.
the course marshals are helpful and courteous. the bar is often packed and you have to wait at the turn for your order delaying play. the on the course refreshments are scarce.
GOOD COURSE
Enjoy playing, can't wait till grass and tress grow back in from winter. Greens very slow and bumpy.
first hole trickey with water on right
fairways rough shape but it is winter greens are in rough shape need work
Could be better
It's ok for the money, but the fairways have no substance to them the greens looked like guys were playing football in cleats on some holes and the little grass or weeds growing through some of the greens really makes it hard to putt. I understand it's winter and the course can't make dummy's stop dragging they're feet. And around 5hrs to get around cuz of the hackers doesn't help. Just hope it's more manicured when spring time comes
Great layout
An interesting and challenging course. I rated the course conditions as 3, but that is only because it is winter time, I am sure they are fantastic once spring time arrives.
The only down side was it was extremely slow checking in at the clubhouse & and being told to hurry up by the Marshall's when nobody was pressing us from behind. The course signage needs improvement, luckily we were hooked up with someone had played there before.
All said and done I will play there again.
Downhill
Very bad customer service... Heard them trying to get a group to start in the fairway because they were 5 minutes late to there tee time..
Takes way to long to pay and them go stand in line again to get a cart ... Took almost 20 minutes to pay ang get cart
course has great features
Course was in good shape considering it's winter. Greens were in great shape. Fairways were ok. Rate of play was ok. I love that you get lunch if you are a loyalty club member. Course was somewhat challenging. I enjoyed playing and will definitely come back again.
Top Notch
Really beautiful course. Challenging and fun. We played the Post Oak and Pines courses. Definitely in the top 5 or top 3 courses I've played.
Longwood
Good course, challenging, friendly staff, good value for your money, pace of play average-longer on the weekends, food and drink average.
Nice course
nice course, navigating from hole to hole can be confusing though.
Best value in Houston
I have played Longwood on numerous occasions throughout the year, and have always enjoyed my round. The weekend deal that includes breakfast, lunch and 2 drinks is a great value. The course is typically in good to very good condition and the staff is very friendly. My only 'bad' time was during some sort of local High School event when there were numerous carts with non-golfers cruising around doing their thing (what ever that was). It wasn't enough to keep me from returning tho!
Pace of play very good for holiday weekend
the course was in very good shape considering all the rain we've had recently. pace of play was much better than usual. Staff super friendly and we had a really good day of golf.
Opened on Thanksgiving
Longwood is one of only few golf courses opened on Thanksgiving. We had frost delayed so we had a late start. We played the Palmetto and Post Oak. The course was in good shape considering the amount of rain fall the last few days and the cold temperature. There are still many wet areas and water collection in places. They just top-dressed the greens so putting was hard to judge the speed. Overall, the course has good layout, with trees and water come into play on many holes. We would definitely come back if we are ever in the area again.
Best value for the money
18 holes at Longwood for 9 dollars, how can you go wrong. I play Longwood often and enjoy all three nines. Course is in very good condition right now with all the recent rains and the greens have really come around. If you have not played it yet don't wait any longer, book a tee time and go play.
Good value course
Better than average course for the money. They have a nice range, chipping & putting area. Course is challenging with lots of bunkers and water. There are days that I can play in 3 hours... Most are +4 hours.
Marshals need to monitor golfers that get off cart path and damage course.
Great layout. Greens and sand traps are in good shape.
Good Variety of holes
Considering that 7 inches of rain fell the night before course held up really well.
Staff on he phone could've been a little more informative but aside from that everyone was friendly and helpful
Hot Deal too Good to PassUp
I got a Hot Deal and the pricing was too good to pass up. I have played the course often before but never at such a good rate.
Always fun
Fun courses. Some t boxes need more water and grass but overall still very nice.
