The Battleground at Deer Park
About
Created as a tribute to Texas' battle for independence, The Battleground is more of a links-style course that is burdened by the wind and tricky because of the abundance of water (14 holes). Despite its links flavor, the fairways are narrow, and they're lined by thick rough.
Providing sort of a golf experience/history lesson combined into one day, each hole is named after some significant person, item, or event in the Texas fight for independence. For example, one hole is named Sam Houston, while another is named after a pair of twin cannons: Twin Sisters.
No. 8 is one of the signature holes, a 175-yard poke over the water to a green that is shared with the par 5 No. 1. A waterfall accents the edge of the lake, providing a unique aesthetic.
On the back, the finishing hole is fun because you can play aggressively off the tee, free of major hazards in the landing area that is framed by mounding. The approach must carry water, and you'll need to take an extra club because the green is elevated.
Getting there : From Houston, take Hwy. 610 and loop around the city to Hwy. 225 east. Take the first Deer Park exit and turn right onto Georgia St. Next, drive 1 mile to the course, and look for the entrance on the right side of the street.

Great Course for the money
Battleground always struggles with their tee boxes and some of their greens. You will find plenty of sandy dried out places throughout the course but it is a solid everyday course. It has potential to be spectacular but ends up average based on how well it’s taken care of.
Nice course but not comfortable to play under heavy rain
Very warm welcome. All the staff is very kind and show a strong commitment to your wellness.
A bit disappointing that the practice was closed, and nothing was written about it on golf now reservation page. Maybe I did not read it properly ?
Weather conditions were very harsh but I managed to finish this very nice course !
Few comments on the course layout.
Somme fairways need to be improved (a lot of unattended plants on it) s greens conditions are irregular. Some of them are really very nice and others very average.
Anyway, although these few things and the weather, I really enjoyed this course and I’m looking forward to playing it again !
Thanks again for all the staff.

Battleground
Fun course and pace of play was great for a Sunday. Course conditions have improved since my last visit.
Masters Sunday Round
Conditions were good. Fairways are cut a bit short. Greens are fighting the Poa Annua, but we in decent shape otherwise. (Cost me a couple of birdies though). Pace of play was about 4:25 but it was Masters Sunday and the group ahead of the group ahead thought they needed to put out everything.
Long Gone
Tee box’s rough, fairways coming back and greens need help . For the price of $25 it’s worth it, plus it was a beautiful day to play.
Play
It was a fun course to play, lot of variety. Fairways are in good shape, greens need some attention, but believe most are this time of year. Good bit of water hazards, but manageable.
Will play there again soon!
The course is coming back
The course layout has always been great. A few of the tee boxes still need some work . They are continuing to work on the greens but the course is coming along. We will be back.
Fun
I had fun. Pace was a bit slow. Conditions good, fairways were cut a bit too short.
Slow play kills
Went with my boy for 18. Stayed for 9. Pace was too slow to get a groove. The course was pretty solid for winter dormancy. Fairways a little rough. Greens need help. Love the turtle back players to a point. Something a bit bigger and flat would be good but a great iron tune up. Not bad for a muni. Problem lies in folks that socialize in 5 some on weekends (Friday). I’ll note, they linked up. It was not the fault of the management who were amazing.
It’s slowly going down again
Sad but if they not doing something with the greens and tee boxes now at summer go to be unplayable
Really nice course!
When I booked the tee time, it allowed
To me to book after 5pm. They promote called me and told me that they would honor the tee time even though they close at 5. All they asked was that I got there a little earlier.
Check in was quick. Cart was clean and in great shape. Away I went!
Too slow and poorly managed
Excellent course, but poorly managed You do not send out a walking 4-ball ahead of all others on a busy Saturday. Extremely long wait at each hole, always at least 3 groups waiting. The range marshal did not brother, nor did he try to help. He should have dispatched groups to other holes which were not as busy. 3.5 hrs for 9 holes is not Ok. You need to improve!!
F Golf now!
Its too bad y’all have guidelines so I could tell how much golf now sucks
