I got paired with two starters at the course. Fun day, great guys.
Course was in good shape and the greens were fast despite all the rain in the last few days. Definitely worth the price, back 9 more challenging with the elevation changes. Only negative the cart girl was really rude and will give you a real hard time if they see any beer in your cart that wasn’t purchased there (I get it but come on everyone brings their own), will even come back around and look in your cart.

Nice round at Phillips Park
Pace of play was a bit slow for a Thursday, but course has a nice layout with very challenging greens. I plan to return sometime.

Tale of two nines
Overall I like Phillips Park, and recommend it for recreational golfers who don't need a ton of distance from the tips to enjoy their round, and like design variety from hole to hole.
Front 9 is pretty much flat with the first few holes showing next to no trees. They are almost links style in their design. Holes 5-8 gradually introduce more trees until you get to 9 where you need to shoot your drive through a rather narrow gap between trees on both sides of the fairway.
The back 9 introduces much more terrain into the design, with quite a bit of distance on Par 3 #11 and Par 4 #17. Greens are more difficult on the back IMHO.
Course was wet, as I'd played just after a rather steady rain. Course conditions were pretty good for this time of season. Pace was lightning fast (nobody else on course for a rainy Tuesday). My limited interactions with the staff was pleasant and officious.
I recommend PP, but I think it's overpriced. Pay a few more bucks and you get much better course options in the area.

Nice course with mature trees, greens contoured enough to keep things challenging but not so much as to make you crazy.

Nice Course
The area has not had rain in a couple of weeks, yet the course was green and in great shape. Had a great day out there.

Worth the fee
Staff was really good. Conditions vey good. It’s a long course because but has defenses with bunkers, trees, and rough. Not an overly tight course but if you hit a bad shot you will be penaltized.

Elevation change layout
First time playing. Clubhouse was closed due to COVID, but snack shop was open. Very nicely landscaped. Staff was friendly. Putting green and driving range available. Starter (Gary) was great.
Some doglegs, quite a few par 3's, condition of fairways was OK as looked like just been aerated. Greens are in nice shape and when we played very challenging. Back 9 has a lot of elevation changes which make it interesting. Would play again.
