Blackberry Oaks Golf Club
About
Blackberry Oaks in Bristol is a public golf course that has been recognized as one of the Chicagoland area's best courses. The course design utilizes the natural beauty and hazards of the landscape including the native wetlands, grassy prairies, and towering stands of mature oaks. Blackberry Creek also meanders through the course. In addition to the natural hazards, a heavy smattering of strategically placed bunkers was also incorporated into the design. Although it can seem intimidating, the golf course isn't overly formidable if you can manage to stay out of the sand and water. The third and 12th holes are two par 4s that are memorable for their water hazards. The third has a lake along either side and the 12th has a green that is almost entirely surrounded by water.

Nice course, lots of water issues
The recent heavy storms took its toll. Back nine closed and 8th and 9th hole still very wet and smelly from the pond overflow.
Real nice layout though and we will definitely go back.
Greens were Perfect
The greens were perfect. Not chewed up like a bunch of places. Course was in great shape.
Very Disappointed
I recently played this course and found the conditions to be very disappointing, especially for the price I paid. I have no complaints about the conditions of the tees, fairways, or greens...it was everything else that was in very poor conditions. There were dead trees, numerous fairways bunkers that literally had no sand and were full of rocks and crabgrass. There were areas planted around tee boxes that were meant to bring an added beautification to the course, but instead were full of weeds, dead shrubs, and washed-out mulch. Many areas of the rough was loaded with clover...making finding your ball if you missed the fairway difficult, let alone trying to hit an iron through it.
As stated, had I paid what I believe would have been a reasonable greens fee ($60-62), I may have not felt as strongly. I have played numerous courses throughout the Chicagoland area that are in FAR Better condition for the over $70 I paid (which would have been more had I not had a Hot Deal from GolfNow)
Fun and challenging track
We’ve played here several times and always enjoy the challenge. The course is in great shape and the greens were smooth and quick. It’s not easy but it is great track and we had a good deal from Golf Now.
Been coming here for years. Really fun challenging course that’s always taken care of. Pace a play can be a hassle but can’t blame the course for that in this situation, lots of people like golfing here. Nice driving range and putting greens too
Hidden gem
Solid from tee to green. The course layout is engaging and the turf conditions are well above average for the area. Aside from a few minor aesthetic flaws or a slightly busy pace of play, this is a top-tier track for any serious golfer.
Nice club house w/ good food and comfortable atmosphere. The staff is friendly & helpful.
Nice place!!
Course was in beautiful shape.I cant really speak to pace of play as I was the first tee time. Most of the holes are challenging and require some thought with precise shot making. Water comes into play on a lot of the holes which adds to the challenge. Course staff was nice and professional. The bar and restaurant were clean and large. Will definitely try to get back here even though it's a 90 minute drive..
Great course
5 mins from the house play it all the time. Very good course with an even better price. Well maintained has better bunkers that actually have sand in them compared to most courses in the area. Great food and bar! Staff always friendly
Great Course! Lots of Tee Box Decisions
This is a great course that is well taken care of and makes you think of club choice on the majority of holes. The layout makes you want to come back and play it again.. Greens are always in great shape, although they were aerated today buy that’s to be expected this time of year.
Greens
I thought greens were in best condition in any previous round and during any previous year playing this course.
What a fun challenging course!
Up there in my top courses I've played around the Chicagoland area. Tricky layout, so it definitely helps to know your distances with clubs. Risk reward shots on alot of the holes with the creek running thru or on the side of the holes. Greens were rolling good, had a few three putts. Bunkers were in great condition and perfectly placed to make the approach shots and wedges extra challenging. Would definitely play it again!
Sooooooooo slooowwwww
Hope it was a fluke. 5 hour round shouldn’t be a thing with timed carts. Like, ever.
