Tamarack Golf Club is a course that will test your shot-making skills yet it is still player-friendly enough to appeal to all skill levels. Pete Dye designed the course with tight, sculpted fairways and undulating greens that come in a range of sizes. The layout offers plenty of challenges with water or sand coming into play on every hole. The golf course will test your accuracy but it is not as difficult as many other Dye designs. The third is one of the toughest holes. A severely undulating green protected by deep bunkers makes placement vitally important on this par 3. The 15th is one of the back nine's more challenging holes. It presents an interesting risk-reward opportunity with a myriad of teeing options. Water lines the entire right side and the two-tiered green is flanked with bunkers to the front and right.

A good layout gone to the dogs

The course maintenance improved slightly from two seasons ago, but not too much lately. The most disappointing aspects are the sand bunkers and the cart paths. Bunkers still has vegetation. Luckily shrubs and small trees from the bunkers were removed. Cart paths are getting progressively worse. I once called it Tamawreck. The name still stands

Course condition was terrible

This used to be a good track, but they’ve let this place go big time. Bunkers were full of rocks and weeds, Tee boxes were dead and brown, and water stations on the course were empty. Take your $75 elsewhere.

Great layout. Poor maintenance

Great challenge. Water in strategic positions. Sand traps were the worst I have ever played in the western suburbs. Soaking wet, weeds growing in the middle of them. Like hitting off pavement

The course was wet, but it doesn’t excuse years of neglect from the clubhouse to the tee boxes to the greens. Perhaps the dirtiest bathrooms I’ve ever seen at a golf course.

Nice Course

I played with a nice young man who was a good golfer. I didn't shoot my best on the front nine as I had to get used to the conditions. The second nine was better. Water around a lot of holes and tall rough. Bunkers were soggy as it rained earlier. Nice weather and a good day!

A good layout slowly regaining its breath

A year ago this course could have been called 'Tama ruin' but the management is doing little things and the course is recovering - not a lot - but playable. Drainage is a big problem. Even after hours of a rain it geta water-logged. Cart will be restricted to cart paths only. And the player has to slosh through retained water. There is absolutely no drainage. Every hole has a water hazard. Putting in some drain pipes can improve the drainage significantly. Another issue is the general appearance, I noticed they are cutting down overgrown bushes along the water's edges. Please keep doing it. The bunkers need more restoration. Some areas need some retention walls along the water lines as well. Naperville area has a very large golfing population. If the management can do some work to improve the appearance, they will start to return.

Pace of play terrible

The pace of play here was horrendous. Even for a Tuesday afternoon with a BUNCH of open tee times. Played the entire last 10 holes with 5 groups back to back to back. Many of those holes had all 5 groups on one hole backed up waiting for one another. Called the pro shop and they said they’d do something around hole 13 and absolutely nothing was done to remedy the situation. Just bring a Marshall out to nudge people along. Not that complicated to fix, but they seem to have no desire to do that at all. I can’t imagine what this place is like on a weekend.

Simply Not Good

Hadn't played here in a couple years, and was hoping for a much better experience than the last time. Unfortunately, really no saving grace to be found - it's somehow gotten profoundly worse over time. Many tee boxes were missing markers, bunkers are in horrible shape, and pace of play was absolutely atrocious. No one enforcing pace of play, people trying to jump holes and cut ahead, and just a general lack of etiquette seem to be standard here. This track seems to just attract the cheapest and most entitled golfers in the Chicagoland area. The cart was broken, there were not any water coolers on the course, and the lack of restrooms on a course that is surrounded by houses makes for a very long five hour weekday round as a single.

Needs a lot of help

First of all. The clubhouse was filthy, carpet, smell wood decking rotted. 4 girls behind the counter chatting not working. Fairways were reasonable. Rough was good. Sand traps needed at least 30 semi loads of sand. 80% of them had none, only mud. And no starter or ranger to assist with play speeds. I got a great deal because of GolfNow and my golf pass. Will not play there again

Great layout and course is improving

Great layout and the course has been improved since last year but still needs work in some of the bunkers…. Removal of rocks, basic drainage could installed by using soak aways ( cost effective option) as install proper drainage system would be an unrealistic expectation. And then introducing more sand where needed.

Will definitely play here again overall it’s great value for the money!

LONG SATURDAY

Played an absolutely brutal round on saturday had a tee time at 11:48 and didn’t tee off until 12:15. Waited on every tee box and almost every fairway. Round was easily over 5 hours. When we arrived and made our way to the putting green only 8 mins before our tee time (because we heard it was backed up) there were no carts for us to take. This is not on the day to day workers they did their best with a bad hand - tee times 8 minutes apart is absurd courses will always be backed up.
