Great for the $$
Surprised how good of condition the course was in this early into the season. Will be playing here more often
Nice variety of hole layouts
I arrived at the course early and they let me get started. The course was obviously meticulously maintained even during this late season time. I will plan to use the course more often.
Great value for the money.
Course was well maintained and was interesting to play......however.....had to wait 10 minutes on the par 3 fourth hole as the crew just fertilized the green and turned on the water! We noticed that other groups also had to wait for the water to go off on a few other holes.....hmmm....a bit frustrating but we will return next year as the overall course was very nice.
without 100+ less trees this course should add more hazzard are
with 100+ trees trimmed down made this course easier for wild swing player NO TREES TO WORRY FOR !!!!!
Great price for a great course
You can't beat Phillips park! The price is right and the course is always in great shape!
Beautifully maintained
Although this tree lined course is shorter than many 18 holers (6200 from the blue) it is a course that has holes that are wide open and some that will definitely challenge you. The front and back nines are two distinctly different courses with the front a flatter nine and the back situated on rolling hills.
The do have a lot of prairie grass that you may NOT enter. If you hit a ball into the grass, its goodbye! On the front nine the par 5 third, the par 4 sixth, the par 4 eight and the par 5 ninth are the tough ones. On the back its the par 3 12th, the par 5 14th and the par 4 15th (this really should be a par 5) that are the hard ones. The par 5 18th is a birdie-able hole (eagle for long hitters)
The well bunkered greens are very well kept and are fast and hilly. Sand (again well kept) comes into play on every hole on the course except the par 3's. The fairways are wide (except for the par 5 ninth) and the rough, though not very deep, is very thick and can give even the best golfers trouble.
Pace of play is always excellent! I have NEVER played Phillips Park where it has taken more than 4.5 hours and this was the worst of days. I regularly play here in 3.25 to 4 hrs. They have excellent staff who are helpful and nice. An excellent driving range and practice greens.
Sandwiches, burgers, fries, cookies and beer are available at the clean and friendly clubhouse.
All in all a great place to play and for a good price, too!
If you have children who play or want to play, they have a three hole kids course and are a part of the First Tee program.
Phillips Park Review
Course was in good shape, greens had been aerated. Course has nice variety of holes with elevation changes from the front to the back nine.
I'd go back.
Very good value. The biggest problem was that they aerated the greens and the putting was unfair. I know it has to be done but it took away from the day.
Very well kept for park district course
The back nine was quite the view with all the rolling hills. I will definitely play this course again. Great golf now value for $35. Front nine played slow but the back nine picked up the pace. We played in 4 hrs.
Fun course experience marred by a rude ranger
Unfortunately, an experience at a pretty nice course was ruined by a ranger who thought he was more important than his customers.
The course is in good shape overall and is fun to play. Hazards are minimal and the course is pretty short, so it's a relatively easy play. My cousin and I enjoyed the course for the price. I can imagine the course could get pretty busy normally.
We teed off at 5:30 after a rainy day, so the course was pretty empty for us. The girl inside was friendly enough and asked us to have the carts in "around 7:30ish." We started on 10 to avoid a group who had just teed off on the front. We flew through the back, finishing in an hour. As we were about to tee off on the front, the ranger came flying up in his cart to block our cart and rudely asked in an accusatory manner if we had already played 18 holes. I told him that we just started on ten and asked if he wanted to see my receipt. He said that he did and as I went to grab it, he said never mind and told us to have the carts in by 7:30. I have no problem with him coming over to us, but the way he handled it was demeaning and rude when there was absolutely no reason to be. Less than an hour later as we were walking on to the 17th green, he drove up to us again and said, "This is your last hole guys," and drove away. It was 7:25. He didn't care that we were going to finish by 7:40 (7:30ish as the girl in the clubhouse asked), nor that my cousin was even par on the back, nor that we were the paying customers, nor that his tone was rude again. We finished 17 and headed in. As we were driving back, he was driving towards us again to ensure that we were coming in. When he saw that we were, he turned around.
The ranger had no reason to be as rude as he was. Clearly, he did not want to be there and his extra ten minutes were more important than his paying customers'. As a result of the way were treated, we will never go back to the course again, especially with so many comparable courses with much better service nearby. Disappointing, since we thought we had discovered a new enjoyable course.
nice course
Nothing to write home about. Nice play with a couple of very nice holes. Slow slow play. People walking very inconsiderate of others.
friendly
nice golf course with challenging holes, build you confidence .i'm sure i will play it again
nice high handicap course
errant shots tend to bounce back towards the fairway as the rough slopes inward, not too many lost balls at this course. The par 4's are mostly short enough that an average hitter can be using a 6 iron or less to approach the green. some elevation changes and areas of prairie restoration make it a nice mix.
Interesting & fun course to play. This isn't Dubsdread but a great value for the Naperville area.

nice coarse
we played this coarse on the 29th what a nice coarse, Although we were running 10 mins late Bo was very nice in squeezing us in. My father and I were very pleased with the coarse over all. 1 thing though the sand bunkers need attention they were hard as a rock .
Variety of challenges
The course is well structured. It challenges all clubs in the bag, and requires good course strategy. The course is in excellent condition with well kept greens. Sand traps could be better as they were somewhat hard and lacking sand.
You can't beat this course for the money...
The front nine and back nine are two totally different experiences. For a local, affordable, park district course, Phillips Park is a great place to both learn and hone your skills. It's not too challenging, and there is plenty of room for error. This is a great family golf course.
My kind of course
In very nice shape, greens were beautiful and many of them are quite large. Only problem was some of the rough hadn't been mowed recently, had trouble finding wayward shots which slows you down too much.
all good but short on carts
our tee time was at 11:55 and at 11:15,they were out of carts.they busted there butts off to recycle carts but it slowed the pace down.other than that,a great course that will punish you if you get off the fairways.07-05-2013
Course has old time appeal and is in good condition.
You go off on time and play has been OK, a little on the slow side but there is usually a lot of activity. Good driving range. Course "ranger" keeps watch on play. Staff exceedingly friendly after you get past the guy at the front desk.
