Happy
Fun course. Very playable but has some teeth. Great value. Would recommend to all levels of players.
Tale of Two Courses
If you haven't played this course before, it really is the tale of two courses. First part is fairly open. Then Number 9 hits you. Many winding and tree lined fairways from there. Not super long but you can find trouble if you are too errant.
Played early bird deal and got out before the bulk of the course traffic. Played in 3:05. Hats off to the walker in front of us who started out 1/2 hole ahead and finished 3 ahead.
Greens were true and a good pace. Fairways were ok, rough was juicy. Tees had recently been plugged, so you had to clear yourself a clean spot. That, and several bunkers in need of repair (duly disclosed by the posters in the clubhouse) kept the course condition rating where it was.
Friendly Course
Staff is always pleasant and accommodating at oPhillips. Greens were in excellent shape as was the course in general. Excellent value for the $$.
Beautiful weather.
The course was in good shape except for the greens. They just aerated and scraped a week or two ago. We were 3-4 jacking every hole. It was VERY annoying and not much fun at all........
Pleasantly surprised
This was the first time I played this course and I'm going back to play it again!
The white tees are a little short roughly 6000, Blues around 6400! Course was in really good shape for so late in the season!! Greens were not too fast as very
Fair ! Sand traps in wonderful condition!
I loved the elevation change especially on the back, something we're not use to here in Illionis ! We pakyed in a 3:15 course was not crowed perhaps threats of rain keep people away!, but it was a beautiful afternoon! Great course for the money ! Definitely on my replay list !
Ok, but could be better
I like the layout. Tee boxes are pretty level. Pace was a little slow. Not enough pissers. Greens were in terrible condition.
Golfnow deal
Phillips is a nice track however there are better choices in their normal pricing range. They don't offer memberships or promotions and they have not kept the course in top condition this year. The rough is longer than in the past. yesterday 7/26 was no different. The rough was long and the bunkers were not raked during an afternoon round; no excuse. The staff reflects the director/ pro. I've only played there about 5xs this season because of the price increase and it's my home course. Twilight does not start till 4, give me a break
Phillips Park Golf Course
This is a great golf course for the great price. The staff is very friendly and the greens are in great shape.
Philips park course
This was a nice golf course, greens are in great condition, I can see why people get frustrated with the pace of the game, because people are always backed up. Overall this was a great course,
great value
course is in great condition for any time of the year especially November. Greens were a bit shaggy but overall the tees fairways and greens were in great condition. Interesting course with some fun holes. Can't beat the price.
Great Scene But Crazy Landscapers
This course is nicely laid out but the two things that bothersome was the landscapers had not a care in the world as we sat 120 yards out for 2 minutes while they mowed the green. Then after we hit near and on the green they continued to mow the green making us wait once more to putt. Unfortunately they followed us to the next hole and still mowed fairways and greens just in front of us. I swear I was looking for the candid camera because surely this must be a joke but it wasn't. Then this place has absolutely the worst sand traps I have ever seen. Luckily I never went into one but these traps are much worse than Klein Creek. You'd think they would send the mowers to the sand traps instead. Haha
Aerated Greens
Played this course several times..usually in great shape. Scheduled to play 18 holes yesterday (9/23) and when we arrived at the course found out the greens were aerated on 9/22. They were in terrible shape. Also, encountered course workers on 6 of the first 9 holes. Not too relaxing. I understand that the greens need to be aerated but STRONGLY suggest they inform people on the phone prior to booking a tee time.
