Hoped for better
Excellent friendly staff and play time was good, all shotgun start. Somehow I had hope for more, being "the Country Club" but seems like this club could really use some funds to fix the old place up...Broken up, rutted and many times non existent cart paths, fairways seemed to cry for water and yet there was plenty in the small lakes there...must be a sign of the times as less and less seniors playing golf in a senior community. I live here and really had hoped for a little better.
GVCC
Hot weather is really taking its toll on this usually beautiful course. The greens are still great however. Numerous fairways are all dried out with the ground splitting apart. I’ve never ever seen it this bad. Hopefully it will come back this fall.
Fun day!
This fairways and greens are awesome. However, do not expect to make all of your putts, tough greens!
Great Course
Southern Arizona is experiencing a severely dry winter, but you would never know it at Green valley Country Club. The fairways are lush and the greens hold. The course is impressive this year.
Good Course
Worth your time & money. Will play this course again!
Fairways in good shape; greens were close to excellent.
Excellent condition - friendly staff
This course operates on two shotgun starts - we had the early one tat 8:30am. The staff was extremely welcoming and friendly. The practice facility was close, in great shape and well supplied with balls. There were very few golfers there, so it was like we had our own private course. The fairway conditions were fantastic with cushiony grass so the ball stood up. The bunkers all had been groomed and had good, soft sand. We had a very pleasant round and would definitely return again. We were so impressed, we even inquired about membership programs. This course is a definite one to play in Green Valley.
Good Greens
CC of Green Valley always have very well designed greens in good shape. They are fast and ball will run if you don't have very good spin on the ball. The chipping is challenging and the sand in the traps is soft and deep. They do an 8 AM and a 1 PM shotgun and pace of play is very good. Bring your distance finder as distances are deceptive.
a bit risk weather
Startiing weather (1:00 P.M. shotgun) was cool but sunny. The last 7 holes the wind came up and the temperature dropped about 15 degrees to an uncomfortable value.
The course was in excellent condition, but the fairways were a little overgrown so that not much roll was experienced with tee shots.
The greens were in especially good condition and tricky. Only complaint is the restriction to only 2 shotgun starts.
Slow,slower,slowest
Luck on the draw but it took 5 hours with a 1:00 shotgun. Finished after the sun went over the mountains. Foursome ahead took forever on the greens Nobody ever seemed ready to putt. Otherwise a nice course in good condition.
Green Valley Country Club
Played this course on Nov. 20, 2017. The course was in great shape tee to green! I have played it before and this year was the best for condition. Would recommend it to anyone that can get on the course. This is a private club with few outside tee times allowed. Manager, one of the friendliest in Green Valley!!!
