About
Built along the Santa Cruz River, Haven Golf Course offers scenic views of the Santa Rita Mountains. Built in 1967, it is Green Valley’s oldest golf course and the only course in the area where walking is allowed. The landscape is covered with mature pines, palms, and eucalyptus trees. There are water hazards and strategically placed bunkers coming into play, but overall the golf course has an enjoyable, player-friendly layout. In addition to the 18-hole course, the Haven Golf G.C. facility features a nine-hole, par-3 golf course called Tortuga. There is also a complete practice facility with all-grass hitting stations that provides excellent short game practice.

Haven not heaven
Course maintenance mediocre. Cart no windshield. Refreshment cart person friendly, courteous and helpful. Green fees excessive.

Don’t close the bar with golfers on the course
This is a nice, flat track with some water and subtle greens. However the bunkers are rocky and they closed the bar at 5:00 with lots of folks still on the course. Don’t understand that at all.

Very nice fairways and greens
This course had some of the nicest greens and fairways I’ve ever played for the price.. it was challenging and fun.

Windy Day at Haven
One of the few courses that would have been playable in those incredibly conditions! Course itself is flat- except for the t boxes that were almost all crowned. Fairways and greens in good winter shape but the rough is almost all just dirt & hard to get a club under.
It would be worthwhile playing it if the green fee was $40. Or less- not worth the $60+ we paid when there’s comparably priced local courses in better shape.

The course is in great shape and playing vary well. Greens are running true, smooth and in great condition.

Bad Communication
Haven Staff,
Unfortunately I am more on the upset side of this review because of poor communication between the staff that works for Haven golf shop and giving phone tee time quotes when someone like my military Son (Army Active) Danny Nezat calls in to set up a round for a foursome and pays $256 total for the round instead of the quoted price of $48 each which was supposed to be $192 total at 11:01am tee time for that day. If that were the case ahead of time, we wouldn’t have traveled all that way when we could’ve play a course that’s in much better condition (Crooked Tree) for $196 four a foursome for that day. But instead not only did we pick your course because of the value but because we use to enjoy Haven, but to have such poor communication not only within your company, but terrible communication with customers such as military veterans like my Son Danny Nezat.

First timer
Slow pace of play. Fairway grass average ar best. Quick pace greens. Nice mountain views throughout the course layout.

Some greens were littered.
Although it was a beautiful sunny peaceful morning some of the greens were littered with chaff. This is a minor problem which could have been identified easily by the greens superintendent with a quick spin around the course during the frost delay. A worker could have cleared the greens in minutes with a leaf blower. I enjoyed my round and the people I played with but attention to little details can make a good experience even better.
