Greens were very slow but rolled good.
Fairway condition was so so as grass was very thin.
First time playing in the wind.
Never played in wind like this, had to learn to keep the ball down, I did a nice job of it. Played the first 9 by myself and then teamed up with a husband and wife from Canada, had a very nice time. The fairways were in great shape as were the greens. Bunkers for the most part could use some sand but nowadays I find most courses have this problem. The course was very enjoyable, the bar restaurant was very nice and the drinks were affordable. Had a cheeseburger, very good.. One thing I was told before I went out, try and play early as the wind comes up in the afternoon, will remember that next time. Overall I enjoyed the course and will play it again the next time I come down here. I think other golfers would enjoy this course.
Nice course for all levels
Always have a great time, even when I don’t play well!
Course in great condition for this time of the year.
Greatly improved since last time I played here. Greens and fairways were in good shape.
Need new greenskeeper.
Never seen greens in such poor condition! Might as well put the pins in the middle of the fairway. Contrary to their website the restaurant had no food at all. They should have paid us to golf there. Stay AWAY! Don't waste your money.
Could be better
Liked the course layout and carts, and staff were very good. The only problem was the greens. Poor grass coverage and painted surface. Too bad, otherwise we liked it here.
Good course
We had a very windy day to play. I understand that is pretty normal. Course was in good shape. Greens were speedy. Wind would blow ball a little if the pace was not firm. Greens were firm I assume because of the wind. Hopefully I will get chance to play when not so breezy.
value
Rates should be given to LOCAL if their license says Bullhead, Laughlin,Ft Mohave that should be considered, also GPS is very speratic. Remember locals are here when Snowbirds leave!
Great Desert Course
From the time we checked in until we finished the round, we found nothing wrong with the course. Very friendly when we checked in, allowed us to go a little early as it wasn't crowded. Course was in great shape and showed the effects of ongoing good maintenance.
Greens were excellent and rolled smoothly.
Nice, straightforward and well kept course
We enjoyed our day at El Rio although it was windy (as usual in that area) and the pace of play was glacial due to a tournament ahead of us. The course was in good shape including the bunkers which were well groomed with a good amount of sand. The price was about right and, were it not for the wind, I would probably go back.
Great, relaxing and fun course to go with friends!
Had a boys weekend away with 5 other good friends. Looking for a course to have fun and enjoy the day golfing and El Rio was it!! We are all 10 to 20 handicap golfers and this course laid out perfect for what we were looking for. Staff was fabulous from the first phone call for reservations to seeing us out the door. They set us up with clubs, balls, tees and carts and were ready for us as we arrived. Pro Shop had all 6 of us all signed in, paid and to the driving range within 10 minutes. I"ve been to much more expensive courses and this has taken a lot longer.
Course was in decent shape and about what we expected. Greens and tee boxes were in good shape and well maintained. Fairways had some rough patches but nothing that affected score or experience negatively. Clubhouse bar and staff made the 19th hole an enjoyable experience to end the day. All in all would highly recommend to anyone looking for fun and relaxing golf experience with friends.
REALLY DISSAPOINTED
Staff was not friendly or accommodating, made me go get my own cart, after they had taken my clubs down to driving range.
Booked an early tee time and when I turned to play the back nine, they sent out a shotgun tournament with 92 players.
Not sure why they would put bookings on Golf Now when they had a tournament with 92 people.
I would not play course again if in the Laughlin area. When I finished there was no one around to take my cart or even asked how the round was. VERY TERRIBLE SERVICE
Great Course for Any Level of Golfer
Second time golfing here, the staff are excellent (best service at any golf course the first time, good second time too). BBQ running each day, burgers & hot dogs. No food service in restaurant/bar, but can buy beer there. We loved the course the first time (allow twosomes), liked it the second time but pace was slower due to group of 24 out ahead of us. Some water, excellent greens, we woudl return if ever in the area.
Nice but....
If your booking a tee time at this course do not be the first one out that day. This is the second time I've played the course and both times I've had to wait for the pro shop staff to arrive to pay my fees. He arrived about 20 minutes before tee time so we were outside for about 40 minutes. The maintenance staff was working away but they couldn't get into the pro shop/ snack bar area. No coffee either! Beautiful course otherwise.
Bad overseed
I had played this course previously and really enjoyed it. This time, course conditions were marginal and certainly not worth $75 pp. Overseed was not good, and most greens seemed not to have active growing grass, Very disappointed,
Great afternoon rate! Open fairways...
Hard to complain about anything for the rate I paid. For less than a cart rental fee in Canada I got the cart, range balls and 18 holes of golf. One course condition were the greens were patchy in areas (not bad for January), but fast. Course quite open of the tee and lots of open desert if the driver wasn't working. Nice afternoon in Arizona...
Nice Course but no discounts anymore
This course is nice to play if the price is right. If you pay their full price, definitely overpriced. Unfortunately, they no longer even have a working website. It has been this way since the first of January. They also told me that they have dropped golfnow. That is a travesty as far as I am concerned. I am a senior citizen on a fixed budget. Without discounted golf available from golfnow and others, I would not be able to play as often as I like. Since their course is quite empty every time I drive by, I wonder why they would give up their relationship with golfnow. It seems to me they would rather have some golfers at discounted prices than zero at full price. Sorry to have to stop playing this course due to cost.
