Huntmore Golf Club
About
Although Huntmore Golf Club is within 10 minutes drive of four other upscale championship courses, it manages to stand out with a scenic and formidable challenge. The golf course covers a diverse landscape, wandering through natural wetlands, hardwood forests, and across grassy open meadows. Water is a prominent feature throughout with at least a patch of marshland on almost every hole. Ribbons of fescue and native grasses border the generous fairways. There are also waste areas and large bunkers lurking alongside the lightning-fast greens. It is important to warm up before tackling the golf course since it opens with two difficult holes. The first hole is a challenging dogleg right that is impossible to cut. After that challenge, there is a par 4 with trees and bunkers that requires a carry past a narrow strip of marshland on the approach.

LEARN FROM ME
I played here a year ago, (did not write review) and had a bad experience. I told myself I would never go back again but was asked by a customer of ours to play so I went. I wish I didn't!
It was good to see that the trailer home looking clubhouse is at least more presentable but that was the ONLY thing decent today.
As we got to the front desk the 2 wanna be pro's were both looking on a cell phone and ignoring us. Finally I said, "Can you help us?" The guy with the dark hair said, "yup, in a minute." and went back to the cell phone. He could tell we were getting mad so he started to get an attitude. We asked for range balls to hit and he threw the bucket on the counter so that a bunch of balls rolled out. As we were picking up the balls I looked up and he was smirking as if he got the last laugh.
We get in our cart and pull to the first tee only to have the ranger say, "Youre going off # 10, back up". We looked and no one was on the fist hole but on the 10th hole there were 4 older ladies who were not even to the 150 marker. I asked why can't we go off #1. He got irritated and said, "Because I said so!" The guy I was with spoke up and said, "What's your problem? The ranger didn't care and just pulled away.
The course says it is the "premier" course in the area but they should be sued for false advertising. The greens were a joke and full of sand so that its like putting in a sand box. The tee boxes were pretty tore up and not taken care of too.
When the round was finally over we wanted to tell the manager that we will never come back. He was not there but another guy was (shorter guy with brown hair). When we told him what happened and that we will not come back he said, "LIke I care!:" Are you kidding me??? To overcharge for golf on a sub par course with rude people is unacceptable.
Please learn from my 2nd bad experience here and don't go here!!!
LEARN FROM ME
Last year I had a terrible experience here ( I did not put a review but I should have) and had not gone back until just now because I was invited by a supplier our company uses.
Its good to see that the trailer park looking clubhouse is at least more presentable--but that was the ONLY thing decent about this course.
The first thing we got to experience was the complete lack of respect the front desk gave us. The 2 younger guys were looking on a cell phone together totally ignoring us! We finally said, "Can you help us?" and the dark hair one looked up and said, "YUP, in a minute!!" We should have walked out right then. They could tell we were mad and they got an attitude. We went to hit range balls before we played and the same dark haired dude threw the bucket on the counter so that a bunch of balls went rolling off and onto the floor. As we were picking up the balls I saw that guy smirk as if he got the last laugh. 2nd chance to walk out but we didn't.
The range was good except they don't move the ropes so all that's left is dirt to hit on.
So now for golf. We pull up to 1st tee and the ranger took our receipt and said, "You're going off the 10th tee" We looked and no one was on the 1st hole but on the 10th there were 4 older ladies not even to the 150 marker. I asked why cant we go off the 1st, no one is on it. If we have to go off the back, can we at least go ahead of the them?? He got mad and said, "Do what I said and if you jump ahead of them I will kick you off!" Now my supplier gets mad back and said, "Whats your problem?? Do you guys know what customer service is? Long story short, we got stuck behind the ladies and played a very slow round.
The greens were a joke. They were full of sand. The tee boxes were tore up and didn't seem cared for either.
When the round was over we went to the desk just to say we will never be back here. It was a different person up front #shorter with brown hair# but still just as rude. When we told him what happened and that we will never be back he actually said, "Like I care!!!"
Overall I should have learned from my first awful time here and never gone back, but now I will never go back. I hope this helps anyone else out there.
Absolutely terrible!!
First off the front desk was so rude and didn't want to help us much. It seemed they would rather joke with each other than help. Then they directed us to a cart that didn't work and just watched us from the window. You would think the starters would be friendly but he was mean and barked orders, as he did we could smell alcohol on his breath. The course seemed too busy to play at any decent pace. The course itself was average but the so called best greens around should be labeled a beach because they dumped a ton of sand on them. Way too much to make it realistic. Finally the round was over and we went to front desk to complain but the guy didn't care and chuckled as he said, "have a good day". We will never go back and won't recommend to anyone!!!
Course
Over priced in General... The greens have very little maintenance to them. Most of the path is mud. They want $50 to play the weekend normally. I was asked to stick to the path because of lots of rain no problem at all I thought. Well the sand hill crains on the course have these babies right now with them on the defensive side. As I left the path to give them space they shut my golf cart down with a sandhill crane on its way to attack me. The cart has GPS..myself being a hunter I have had many encounters with them none like this. No compensation offered.
Was hoping for more
This was not my first time playing Huntmore. It had been a couple of years. The course is under new management, and I have to admit, they are putting a lot of money and effort into the course. 4 months from now it might look great. I just happened to catch it while under construction. There were a few holes that were pretty chopped up. The greens were very sandy, almost like they waited too long into the fall to aerate and top dress them. There are a lot of gimmicky holes where you have to play target golf. If you haven't played it before or it has been a while since you have, it can get a little frustrating. Staff was very nice. I will probably play it again, but not until late summer.
Huntmore
Nice course layout. Narrow fairways keep driver in bag
Hatemore
Arrived at the course 30 mins early only for the manager to tell us there was an hr frost delay. No biggie, but this was only the beginning. Manager treated us like we were 15 ( Had a 3 some and we are in our 30's). He told us since we booked with Golf Now and got the " cheap" price he was going to pair us up with a single 75 year old man to slow us down. He didn't after we threatened to leave. Then on the course the players behind us came up to us as we were teeing off, in the middle of someones swing he yells " HEY HEY YOU, stay 30 yards away from the greens with your cart when our carts were always on the path. Very Rude all around.
This is a True Golf Club
This was my first time playing Huntmore and who would have thought that on October 25th that the greens would be more pure than 95% of the courses in Michigan in the middle of summer. This place is a golf enthusiasts type of club. The spotlight is the course and that's the way it should be. The layout is challenging but if you have the flat stick rolling a great score can be had because the greens are that pure. Awesome place and glad that I was able to play and look forward to many more rounds there.
Best Shape
This course I play a lot and they have done a great job with the greens and the keeping the leaves out of play. The staff is very friendly and the hot dog at the turn was the best I've had at a golf course. Greens were rolling around a 12 and were very true. Usually when I play here they roll around a 10 and can get beat up throughout the day.
weather problems
I've played here a couple of times before and liked the course. In general, nice course, interesting holes, greens are quick and mostly true. The layout can get confusing and they need more yardage markers, especially on tees.
On this day, we were playing after a downpour the night before. The course did not hold up well and there was a delay in the start of the rounds that was handled pretty poorly. This is an exception to normal play and I generally liked this course. So, I'll be back but not if the weather is at all in question.
Challenging , fun course to play.
We played 27 holes on a rather damp and blustery September day. The course was definitely challenging from the blue tee's, but a fair test of golf. The staff were all extremely pleasant and helpful. The only detracting factor from the experience was playing behind very slow players, who did not allow faster groups to play through. We all agreed that we will return.
New to Michigan
Extremely impressed with course layout and condition. Worth every penny. Course is challenging enough with decent forgiveness and the greens roll great. Already scheduled my second round for Sunday with some friends.
A must play
First timer. Fast greens. Nice views. Played from white tees . Next time we'll play from the blues. I'll definitely play again.
great course
this was my first time playing this course. Its a great course, on some holes you need to hit it straight. 5 sets of tees. The condition of the course was excellent. Greens are fast. Keep the ball below the hole.
Nice Course
Nice course. Fairways and greens were in good condition. Sand bunkers were weeded and raked. Cons, too many dog-leg blind holes. Over-all I liked and will golf the course again if a discounted price is available.
Very nice
First time on this course. Pace of play is quick because of pairing people up when necessarily . Green is clean and fast. Would love to play here again.
huntmore
definitely a good looking course I enjoyed it.
I will try to go back this year some time.
Course is a nice one
The greens during this time were undergoing maintenance. They were basically like Bunkers. We asked the staff why is this and they mentioned 2 tiems a year they use pesticides and use Sand to fill in the greens so they dont run off. Greens were horrible to putt on but we must have picked the wrong day after a harsh winter.
Great Conditions/Starter issues
Course was in great condition. Greens were running about an 11, Bunkers could use a little more sand.
Starter was a pain. We arrived at the tee box about 8 minutes before tee time and starter wanted to know where we were. No one was in back of us. I asked if we were late and he said no but we like to stay on time here. It got very heated and was ready to walk off the course. Took a couple of holes to calm down over this issue with him.
