Fun Course; greens way too hard
Compass Pointe is an enjoyable course, fairly priced, and nicely challenging. I enjoyed the day but for the greens. You could hit a towering pitching wedge into a green and it would just not stick; rolling off the green. This happened way too many times. Management needs to do something to make these greens softer. Everything else was fine.
You get what you pay for here
I've Been playing this course now for 3 years and during all that time it has never disappointed,
For $60 I think this course is worth every penny,
This most recent time playing here the greens were perfectly fast,
Fairways are filled in, but they could have used a cut,
And rough was just cut so it was perfect height,
Had a great time playing here and will definitely be back
Nice Track
The course is in great shape and the greens are lightening fast. Never play behind the high school kids because they are slow.
Poor shape
This is a challenging and interesting golf course however it’s in pretty bad shape. Rough was uneven and fringe areas were just clumps of grass on bare ground in many places. Fairways were not in great shape either. Greens were generally good and quite fast and true. If there’s a superintendent need to work on seeding and conditions especially around the greens
Thanks for your review. We greatly value your feedback and are working hard to improve the customer experience. We hope to see you again soon.
Good value at a top course
Course was in very good shape. Greens had beeb aerated and topdressed, but were in good shape.
Thank you for your review. We value your feedback and are glad our course met your expectations. Hope to see you again soon!
Southwest course
We arrived ahead of our tee time. The course was very gracious and let us out early. The fairways were in a dormant stage. It made the balls sit up. The greens in decent condition. We will definitly will come back.
Nice layout but the greens could be improved
The South/West course at Compass Pointe is a nice layout. The front 9 (South) is much easier than the back 9 (West). On the front, the primary challenge is that most fairways have trees on both sides. However, the fairways are wide so the trees are not a real problem. The back 9 has tighter fairways and some holes with water in play.
The course conditions are pretty good, but the greens are really inconsistent - some major patches of bare ground and many bumpy greens.
We will play this course again - especially if the greens are improved.
Horrible shape
Seldom write reviews and doing it on my phone so forgive please
This course has never been in that good of shape since the beginning. Traps were awful until last few years. Course drains awful. Not sure of the problems now but it is the worst shape I’ve seen. Possibly the heavy rains and hot temps. I know nothing about turf management but if the condition is unavoidable the management should be ashamed to charge full price. There were problems with the fairways and the greens. Coupled with the fact that this course seems to rely on tourneys to stay afloat the greens have way too many ball marks.
Just disgusted. And I love the layout. Won’t be back for awhile.
Pretty decent
This course isn't bad. It's got some great holes, but the West 9 is about 400 yards less than the South 9, so that is a bit different. The Pace of Play was really good, but I had an early morning tee time so that also may have been part of it. The fairways were in great shape, but most bunkers were a free drop outside according to the starter, and the greens had tons of ball marks. I got a great deal to play it with my dad, but I would've been disappointed if I had to pay full price in the early morning. I really liked the design, and if the greens and bunkers were better I think it would be one of the best in the area.
I’d play it again
Very friendly place. Not perfect condition , but not as bad as other post would have you believe. Played ball down and had no problems. Greens have a few ball marks but didn’t have any issues putting .
Good afternoon! Thank you for playing Compass Pointe and we hope to see you back on the links soon!! Regards, Michael and the Compass Pointe Team
All in all - very pleased!
Great friendly staff! Overall, course was in good shape, except for 5 or 6 fairways that were struggling to grow sufficient grass, due to a wet/cold late winter/early spring. Rough could be a little lower. Pace of play was good - 4 1/2 hours - for a public course. Nice layout with character. Played as a single and got paired with 3 others. Enjoyed the round and company. When back in town, will play again.
Golf afternoon and thank you for sharing your feedback. The winter was a bit tough on a few fairways and we are in the process making some additional repairs. The wet weather has made it tough to get some mowers out, but we have caught up now. Thank you for sharing. Michael
