Compass Pointe Golf Club - North/East Course

This course isn't bad. It's got some great holes, but the West 9 is about 400 yards less than the South 9, so that is a bit different. The Pace of Play was really good, but I had an early morning tee time so that also may have been part of it. The fairways were in great shape, but most bunkers were a free drop outside according to the starter, and the greens had tons of ball marks. I got a great deal to play it with my dad, but I would've been disappointed if I had to pay full price in the early morning. I really liked the design, and if the greens and bunkers were better I think it would be one of the best in the area.

Very friendly place. Not perfect condition , but not as bad as other post would have you believe. Played ball down and had no problems. Greens have a few ball marks but didn’t have any issues putting .

Great friendly staff! Overall, course was in good shape, except for 5 or 6 fairways that were struggling to grow sufficient grass, due to a wet/cold late winter/early spring. Rough could be a little lower. Pace of play was good - 4 1/2 hours - for a public course. Nice layout with character. Played as a single and got paired with 3 others. Enjoyed the round and company. When back in town, will play again.

Compass Pointe is a well designed course - 36 holes and a a challenging layout. Two issues with our round; the east part of the North East pairing is really in pretty bad shape. Way too much fairway with no grass. And, we had two guys behind us who seemed to have started on east (not north where as I understand it you're supposed to start) who were pretty much our tail for most of 9 holes.

However, still recommend the course and hope to play again soon

With have four courses the place was quite busy, but they have their act together with getting folks off on time, etc. Waits were not too long and it was a beautiful day so I think everyone took off work to play. Overall was a great experience!

North, West, East, South...who gives a s$$t! Point the staff in the direction of some fertilizer. Worst fairways I’ve played in a long time and believe me, I’m not playing high end courses a lot. Do yourself a favor and play Forest Park, play Mt. Pleasant, heck...play Clifton Park at night!

Course was in good shape, with a few concerns. Fairways on the west course appeared to be burned out. Large brown areas and seemed dried out. Given the time of year, it hasn't been hot enougn for that. Greens were in good shape and read true. Even though there was a good crowd, pace of play was still good.

Will be back! Course was in nice shape. Able to putt from first cut. Holes were challenging but not too bad! Great company to boot!

We had a good time. Course was in good shape. Would definitely play it again. Fees were reasonable for the track. Definitely recommend to anyone wanting a challenging course.

Superb customer service! Requested to play ahead of local high school athletes at 3pm. I was sent South/West and notified of recent work done on West Course (new fairways). I was unaffected by the conditions and pace of play was superb. No one in front, no one behind. Played in 3:30 and still collected numerous balls...and ticks and spiders. Thank you Compass Point.

The fairways were great on the North and East courses but the greens leave alot to be desired!

Compass Pointe has a lot of potential, but I don't feel like it's being properly channeled. When you check in with the starters, lately it's been a bunch of kids that don't seem to know what they are doing. There have been consistent backups and you never know which of the four courses you'll get to play any given day. As for the course, it's pretty challenging and enjoyable to play. Greens sometimes are like concrete when playing in the afternoon so be wary. Prices are pretty competitive for what you get and the full grass practice range is great.

The greens are in horrible conditions. I don't blame the course or staff. It looks like people don't repair ball marks at all, which is absolutely absurd. This could be a great course if that were somehow fixed.

I normally don't review courses however I feel compelled to comment on this one. So chronologically here's my feedback in the short and skinny:

My profile and factors: 13 handicap, high 80 degrees, blue tees and first time playing the course.

Checking in for tee time - The young man who checked me in was efficient and courteous. He welcomed me as soon as I stepped in. His name slip my mind as I was a preoccupied with trying to move on to change and get warmed up.

Starter (Gary) - His enthusiasm and informative approached armed my playing partner and me with everything needed to successfully navigate the course.

The course - Nice and challenging layout yet not too intimidating. It teases you really well from thr tee which I fell for and got me out of my course management strategy. Good gamesmanship. My playing partner on other hand appeared fustrated which only comes down to your confidence in your skills. After each hole this course made me look back from green to tee and make mental snapshots for next time. It kicked my butt on a lot of holes due to first time playing there enticing me to try to cut corners from tee to later discover not much cut back along woodline. I paid for it stoke wise costing an additional 10 strokes all of which I own. If I had to speak on any area for room in improvement would be the greens however I don't put that on the course. It appears as though a lot of players believe checked marks on green magically repair themselves. Can fustrate your play when you miss birdie and eagle attempts. Nevertheless I finished with a mid 80 round. Loved the course and will return soon. Thanks CPGC for a great experience.
