Good golf course
Played this course on an unseasonably warm day but windy in early March. Course staff were friendly and helpful. Pace was a bit slow, there was a threesome two groups up and a twosome of ladies in front of us (we were 2) but we still finished in 4.05.
The course was in decent shape for this time of year and the greens were pretty smooth and true. The fairway grass was dormant and very easy to play from. You have to watch yourself with the tee shot as some of the fairways are canted and the ball will run off, but if you pay attention off the tee you're fine. The rough was very patchy, I got the impression that they'd had issues with it. Overall the North/East is a good layout and a decent challenge if you choose the correct tees for your h'cap level. The Par 5s are long, and on one of them (the 13th) you can't use driver even from the back tees or you'll run out of real estate...don't like that, but it's a minor peeve. 8 and 17 are very good Par 5s . Overall a good solid golf course, and better than average for a public track
great winter golf
Of the 8 courses I have played this winter because of the seasonally warm days we have had, Compass Pointe ranks up there for its winter conditions.
Can't wait to play it again in the spring & summer.
This course is open and somewhat forgiving if you miss a few shots. I realize that the fairways are harder and dryer in the winter and that I got a lot more roll off the Tee Box, so I am sure I will not fair as well on my scorecard the next time I play , plus it was pretty easy to find missed shots in the wood-line and play them to the green.
Dear Golfer,
Thank you for playing Compass Pointe and we hope to see you back on the links soon! It has been a pretty good golfing winter up to today!

Brisk February
It was February so all-in-all, not bad, especially considering the big rain the previous day.
Dear Golfer,
Thank you for playing our course and taking the time to share your feedback. We hope to see you back on the links soon!

Walkers on Saturday Morning
Great course layout. Greens were not in best shape, but good for February. I was most surprised that walkers are allowed to walk on Saturday morning.
Dear golfer,

Interesting range of holes
Compass Pointe is a decent 36-hole facility in Pasadena, MD which is fairly convenient for anyone living in the DC/Baltimore area (or visiting).
Conditions are okay, but some of that is down to playing in early February (some of the tee boxes and fairways have Bermuda grass). There's a fairly wide variety of holes on both courses but one constant- all of the par 5's are challenging (no easy layup holes here; any birdies are earned).
One other constant- most of the people who work there are friendly and helpful.
Dear Golfer,
Thank you for playing Compass Pointe. We are excited to be finishing the Bermuda project in 2017 along with the renovation of the remaining bunkers. Hope to see you back on the links soon!

Challenging
This course has a lot of unique holes with a lot more hazards to deal with than other courses in this area. It was definitely challenging and will punish you if your driver is on hitting straight. I lost a lot of balls OB due to poor shots but the rough was very thin so balls would bounce and roll into the nasty stuff with no chance of finding them. All in all, I enjoyed it and like the challenge. The greens were in great shape. They can be hard to read and pin placements were tough but they rolled very nicely.
Dear Golfer,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. The crew has done a lot of seeding in the rough areas this fall and we are looking forward to a fuller more playable surface in the spring. Regards, Michael
Doggone Slow!
Played S/W for first time since renovation. Looks good, promising. Too many people, 4 1/2 hours to finish 12 holes, had to leave due to an appointment.
Dear Golfer,
Thank you for playing Compass Pointe and sharing your feedback. I am sorry to hear it took that long to play 12 holes the other day. If you have a chance I can be reached at msenneca@billycaspergolf.com and would love to speak to you about your experience some more. Regards, Michael
Still needs a lot of work....
This place still needs a ton of work. I give this course a chance once every two to three years and every time I come back, it disappoints. We played the North East courses and started on the East. The fairways and tees were in good shape and the greens were about where they should be given they were probably punched a few weeks ago. They do have a major problem with people not fixing their ball marks. However, the East course lacks any semblance of rough. If you miss the fairway with any kind of speed, expect the ball to continue on into the woods or a hazard. Since day one, the rough has been non-existent. The North nine is in much better shape, which has always been the case. I have heard from various folks in the know that the county doesn't show this course the financial love it needs to improve. And judging by how well kept the North has always been, it seems this place has the potential to be a solid course.
We played the East right at 2 hours, but made the turn to the North and hit a brick wall. The pro shop decided to send a few groups off the North right in the middle of the groups making the turn. The back side took about 2:45 to play and when a ranger on the last hole asked us how the pace was, I explained that it was very slow because a few groups were sent out in front of us. His response is indicative of everything that is wrong with this course; "well they must have decided to flip the nines." Until the rating improves for this course, I won't be back.
Dear Golfer,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback from your recent visit. Currently we are working on a multiyear project to transition the tees and fairways to Bermuda grass. So far we have done the East and the South and they look awesome. Also, include in the plans is some additional bunker and rough work. Now that we are moving into the fall I am sure you will see a much improved facility. Regards, Michael
Disrespectful Employees. Bad Course Conditions. Slow play.
The way my group was treated was horrendous. The course was packed on a Wednesday afternoon. We teed off at 3:15 and the pace of play was great on the front nine. Pulling up to the 10th tee we noticed a group had jumped in front of us. After several attempts to talk to the group, one of the group members acknowledged me. It was none other than an employee at the course. Mike the starter. Knowing this we called the pro shop and they sent a marshal out. Mike refused to move to a different hole. This created a huge back up which consisted of about a 20 minute wait on the 10th tee along with waiting on every shot. We had called the pro shop 5 times which resulted in no action from the course's management. After the 13th hole my group drove off the course back to the pro shop where we received a full refund. The complete lack of respect for paying customers was atrocious. This was my groups 9th time playing this course this year. Needless to say we will not be back. The course is also in horrible shape with exception to the fairways.
Dear Golfer,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. Customer service is key in our business and while I never like negative feedback it surely understand it is important for growth. Regards, Michael
Great first visit!
I'm new to the area and was able to play this course for the first time on 4th of July in the morning with the Sales Director Rob. Overall I thought it was a great course and had a good mix of challenges while not overly frustrating. I'm an average golfer at best but I really enjoyed it and Rob was great in giving some local tips and advice on certain holes. Will definitely play again and would recommend.
Dear Golfer,
Thank you for playing and glad to hear you had fun! Hope to see you back on the links again soon. Regards, Michael
Tough but fair golf course
Great round golf at a great price (Golf Now) Played the South West course. The course is in very good condition and the staff was hard at work to keep it that way.
Good morning golfer! Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and we hope to see you back on the links soon. Mike
Good local course
I live 3 miles from Compass Pointe and play there quite frequently as it is a good, local home course with two courses available to play any given day. The staff is always friendly and welcoming as well. The course has undergone some upgrades in the past few years, and I can only hope that it trends to continue as such. My only gripe is the bunkers. A few of them tend to be almost clay like. The East course is the best in my opinion. Especially in the warmer months when the Bermuda grass is in fully. I play here once a week with friends and enjoy it.
Dear Golfer,
Thank you for your feedback. We love the new Bermuda tees and fairways on the East nine. Happy to let you know we plan to convert the South tees and fairways this June. Also, we will be working on many additional bunkers. Our team just finished the green side bunkers on 3 North. Hope to see you back on the links soon. Mike
Nice layout, would like to play in season
Nice layout, just happened to come after they had airrated the greens and fairways. Don't hit your ball even slightly into the wooded area because of sticker bushes everywhere. Would like to come back at a later date and play.
Dear Golfer! Thank you for playing Compass Pointe and we hope to see you back on the links again soon!
My second time playing here was awesome.
My experience booking a tee time was awesome. The staff assisted me three time to me my tee time around when when additional golfers were being added at different times of the day from two to four. The course was in great condition for playing during the first week of March. Will be returning for sure.
Just a little nip tuck -
Played on a cool ( 45 ) windy ( 15 mph ) morning after a night of steady rain. The North side, fairways & greens, were in really good shape. East course they have changed to Bermuda, and the rain, along with it I guess it not being totally grown in, made it a bit of a mess - can't blame the course for this. Greens were pretty good except for a few thin spots on some. The one very big problem with this course is much of the rough, ( especially the areas around the cart paths for some reason? )and always has been. It is muddy, bare in many spots,, stones in others and where there is grass, clumpy. It isn't just because of the season ( other courses we have played the rough is still thick ) and it has been this way in the summer as well for years. Instead of worrying about changing to Bermuda fairways, they need to do something about these areas - really my only issue. Oh - it would be nice to be able to do something about the geese - and their "droppings! Layout is one of the best around. I would recommend paying the course, but not at full price at this point. Still, I don't think it's too far off. I know they are working on turning it around, and I think they will.
Dear Golfer,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback from your most recent round of golf. As we move into the 2016 season you will see many more improvements at the club. This fall we put out a lot of seed in the rough some of those areas will look much better in the summer. Also, we will be working on the areas where cart traffic has damaged the turf. We are also excited about many renovated bunkers and new fairways / tees on the South nine. Thanks again and enjoy the snow! Mike
Good course
Course rated much better than reviews I had read. Will definitely play again.
Good morning golfer! Thank you for playing Compass Pointe and hope to see you on the links soon. Happy Holidays from our team.
Challenging but Fair!
Arrived early, hit some balls on multi-station range. Nice putting facility and headed out. No marshall on the course but not necessary with courteous golfers. Played the S/W course and other than the bunkers that were filled with packed sand (grounds keeper pays no attention to them [Today?] it was a pleasurable round. The packed sand really hampers that part of the scoring/recovering around the greens. We'll play this course again for sure.

Good moring golfer! Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. Hope to see you back on the links again soon! Mike
Good value
It was challenging and in fairly good condition other than the bunkers which were water logged
Good morning golfer! Thank you for taking the time share. We hope to see you back on the links soon! Mike
South to west compass
Great layout, great staff.... course in good shape not great. Could use some more sand in bunkers
Good morning! Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience with us. Happy golfing! Mike
