About

Parlaying the successes of the Dallas-area Tour 18, Houston's version of America's greatest holes has become one of Harris County's most popular golf destinations. This one takes advantage of the Southeast Texas pines, with towering trees lining every hole, and the impressive conditions that have made both Tour 18s popular with the public.

Two holes stand out on the front side, and they're not the replicas of Augusta's Amen Corner (5-7 on this track). No. 1 is perhaps the most difficult on the course, intimidating off the tee because it is surrounded by wetlands. You'll need a solid drive to start well on this narrow, 440-yard hole. Bay Hill, La Costa, Inverness, and Pinehurst are also modeled, but the other great hole on the front is No. 9, a version of TPC Sawgrass's island hole.

Texas' own Colonial's third hole makes a showing on No. 12, and you'll get to see what Pebble Beach might feel like on No. 13. And those who've played the Dallas track know that the crew can sometimes get diabolical with their stimp-meter readings and pin placements, which is similar to what happens on No. 15-a replica of Shinnecock Hills' 8th hole. The green on this one slopes so heavily toward the front that a three-jack is almost certain.

Doral rears its head on No. 18, the perfect finishing hole for this track. Play the approach to the right side of the green, away from the water left, just like the pros do when they're protecting that precious lead.

Getting there : From US 59 north, turn right on FM 1960 and drive east for about 2 miles to the course entrance.

Tour 18 review

Course was in great condition considering the time of year, fairway and greens were in great condition. The only comment I really have is tee boxes could be maintained a little better. But overall great round!

Didn't Disappoint

I had heard about this course from several contacts and they talked about all the holes that were displayed. Had an opportunity to play and it didn't disappoint. Realizing it's winter and grass isn't growing as much as July, I was still surprised with the great lies and how soft the greens were. Many greens during this time are like table tops. Thoroughly enjoyed Amen Corner. Was fun to see the depth perception on the Par 3 and how thin the landing area is on that green. My only suggestion would be to clean up some of the areas that need paint, i.e. Tour 18 sign in pond on #18, bridges at Amen Corner, etc..... Clubhouse was great and mats on the driving range are expected at this time of year. Thoroughly enjoyed my round and would love to play it again in warmer weather.

Great course with history lessons

Love this course BUT...

Greens were ok just need more grass. Bunkers where in great shape. Some Tee Boxes were in pretty bad shape.

The staff is fabulous. I can name 6-7 that are efficient and engaging. The course is fair. It has enough challenges to test your skills and is exciting to play. I am very excited about the recent investments to the facilities and course.

'Toured" 18

Could not have asked for better weather. My son and I were paired up with a couple of great guys, "Eddie and Dennis" and despite being fully booked we never once waited to get on a tee or had the group behind us waiting on us. Course was still a bit soggy from last week's rain. Bunkers are still (since the last time I played last summer) concrete hard and badly in need to a refresh.

Spread out your tee times a little more please. Pace sucks. Course is cool don’t get me wrong, but you come out here and pay 80$ for a 5 and a half hour round.
