Oak Harbor Golf Club

About
Situated just 25 minutes outside of New Orleans, Oak Harbor Golf Club is one of the area's most popular courses. The course is a challenging test without being too intimidating for beginners. It offers risk-reward holes that will appeal to low and high handicappers alike. Lee Schmidt, who worked closely with Pete Dye, designed the golf course, and incorporated many of Dye's signature features into the design. Sculpted mounding and native grasses frame the generous landing areas and you'll even find Dye's trademark railroad ties framing the greens. There are also several lakes that come into play throughout. Oak Harbor Golf Club's seventh and 15th holes are particularly notable for their intimidating tee shots over water. If you strategize carefully, the four par 5s provide some birdie opportunities but you'll have to carefully navigate through a combination of water, traps, and undulations.

Great layout
Have played here many times . Greens were sanded. Fairways had rough spots. Staff was excellent and we had a great time..,
Needs some TLC
The course is a great layout but needs a lot of maintenance. A number of holes have huge holes in the fairway where you can lose your ball. The edges of the course need cleaning up.
Great Northshore Golf Option
Oak Harbor remains the best public golf course on the Northshore. The Scottish links style course offers a variety of challenges with some interesting hole designs. The wind off of Lake Pontchartrain will test your skills. The course staff was friendly and the pace of play on a Saturday afternoon allowed my twosome to finish 18 holes in 3 1/2 hours. Course conditions were good and the greens were in nice shape coming out of the winter months. I highly recommend scheduling a round of golf here. PS. They have a nice practice range including a putting and chipping green.
Great greens horrible tee boxes
For the price you should get a level lie and grass on the tee boxes.
Ok course, multiple areas under repair
This course layout is nice and the greens are in good shape. The fairways, though are not great and many of the holes have areas under repair and are unplayable. I'm sure after continued maintenance and a little improvements. This could be a great course.
It's a nice course.
It's a nice course. A little worse for the wear at this time. There are several obstacles in many of the fairways which is unfortunate. There are also a few drainage issues. I hope they work on these over the winter and spring.
