Oak Harbor Golf Club

About
Situated just 25 minutes outside of New Orleans, Oak Harbor Golf Club is one of the area's most popular courses. The course is a challenging test without being too intimidating for beginners. It offers risk-reward holes that will appeal to low and high handicappers alike. Lee Schmidt, who worked closely with Pete Dye, designed the golf course, and incorporated many of Dye's signature features into the design. Sculpted mounding and native grasses frame the generous landing areas and you'll even find Dye's trademark railroad ties framing the greens. There are also several lakes that come into play throughout. Oak Harbor Golf Club's seventh and 15th holes are particularly notable for their intimidating tee shots over water. If you strategize carefully, the four par 5s provide some birdie opportunities but you'll have to carefully navigate through a combination of water, traps, and undulations.

Greens in great condition
Greens in great condition but fairways need improvement.
Awesome greens
My overall experience was great. Check-in was seamless ,on course staff was accommodating. You must chose the correct tees, otherwise you are in for a long brutal round. The fairway and cart paths are in need of car and repair. However, all 18 greens are immaculate. Somé of the best I have played.
GPS issues
The course is in good shape. Tee boxes and fairways are better than they were during the winter and spring. Still get some very uneven lies even in the fairways.
We had issues with the GPS shutting down our cart on the cart path. This has happened several times previously. Please fix this problem or disconnect it.
Tough Course to play!!
Tough but fun!!
Greens were in great shape!!
Fairways were narrow but manageable
Best Course in the Area!
Love this course. Great layout. Challenging for all levels. A must play for me when I visit from FL. With that said, a few minus points… One, no cart girl. Would make more money on drinks/snacks if a cart girl was present. Two, no ball wash stations. Three, the starter was a great guy, but seemed a little disorganized. Four, there needs to be some or better directional signage around the tunnel area. The few times I have been there, I had to turn around to go to the tee box when you are supposed to go back through the tunnel. Need better way finding signs. Five, the tee boxes need some love. The greens and fairways are great! Six and just a nit pick, need some flags on the practice green. Other than that, it is a great course. Will play again next time I am in town.
Nice greens
Staff was nice. Bar and range were open.
Greens were in great shape.Fairways are getting better.
Overall good value.
Great time, great challenge, and emasculate green conditions
Playing this course was a great time, seemed to be in pretty great condition in most places, and had a challenging layout. The greens were in great condition with varying undulation, making the greens a good challenge to read and fun. Would definitely do it again.
Horrible track
I booked online and should have known when I showed up and there were almost no cars in parking lot. I have always said cart path is usually a direct reflection of course and of course held true. the only saving grace is the tee boxes and green were in great shape other than that the fairways were unplayable many potholes, sand, and water hazards in middle of fairways would not recommend this course
Conditions In Line with Price
As the title said I only paid $30 for 18. The driving range was closed due to previous heavy rains. The warm up green was on target for pace and conditions.
The greens were in amazing shape but the fairways less so. I took some pictures of the current conditions. There were numerous points on the course where there was standing water and make shift ponds.
The bunkers appeared to be in good condition too. Although the fairways were bare in areas there was enough grass to play my shots. There were many other areas where there was clearly ground under repair. All the carts have GPS trackers with no screens. There were a few areas where the cart shut down and I had to put the cart in reverse.
There were water cans out and there were a few portable toilets. No beverage cart but I can let that go because it was Mother’s Day.
For the price I would play this course again but it it definitely rough. I would like to see the course when it is dry. The course is also pretty much what you see is what you get.
Oak Harbor
Great course to play. Greens are in tip top shape
