The Oaks Golf Club
About
With fairways that wind through groves of hardwoods and pines, around ponds and alongside acres of wetlands, the Oaks Golf Club provides one of the most unforgettable golfing experiences on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
The striking par-72 layout is highlighted by strategic bunkering, dramatic green complexes and a meandering routing and creates a serene and tranquil golf experience. Designed by Dr. Gil Morgan, the 18-hole public golf course that opened in 1998 measures 6,885 yards from the longest tees and has a slope rating of 131 and a 72.5 USGA rating.
Throughout its history, the Oaks has received numerous awards and accolades, including being honored by Golf Digest as one of the Top Ten Courses in Mississippi, voted as the Best Course on the Coast by readers of Coast Magazine and selected as the 2003 "Golf Course of the Year for the Mississippi Gulf Coast " by the National Golf Course Owners Association.
The Oaks Golf Club has challenged some of the top players in the country as a former host of Nike Tour/Buy.com events (now the PGA Tour's Nationwide Series) in 1999 and 2000 and having played host to the first stage of the PGA Tour Qualifying School in 2003.

Great Playing Conditions
The course was in great playing condition. The greens rolled true, and we in wonderful shape. I would highly recommend.
Still one of the Gulf Coast's finest
The Gulf Coast has many options for quality golf. For 20 years now, the Oaks has been one of the Mississippi Coast's top golf destinations. It continues to be today.
Played yesterday for the first time in about a year, and the course was as good as I remember it. The course eases you in with 2 relatively mild par 4's before hammering you with a longer 4, followed by a short 4 with a green you can't see from the tee. From there it's game on. There are nice elevation changes, nothing major, but enough to make flat-landers work a bit harder on shots. The shot values are great, and the course is set up so everyone from low to high handiappers can have a great time. The course was in great shape and most of the greens were perfect. If there was one thing about this course that has changed over the years that is not a positive, it's the homes going up all around it. It's beautiful land and I've played this course since it opened up, pretty much at least once a year. Originally there were very few homes around the course, now there are homes on many holes. They don't really take away from the course, but whenever you find a course mostly secluded in the woods and you have that feeling of being surrounded completely by nature, it's special.
The course isn't long and doesn't really play long. There are several greens with a couple of tiers to adds to your fun, and some greens perched above fairway height , as well as a couple below it. While the par 3's take the spotlight on this course (as well as the gorgeous par 5 sixth hole), the short par 4's might be the most fun on the course. Holes 1,4, 13, and 14 are short-ish par 4's (13 can be long from the back tees, but from the front tees you can gamble a little and get inside 100 yards off the tee). On these holes you can lay back or hit the big stick and still have varying wedge shots in. It all makes for a fun course, with plenty of scoring opportunities, but also plenty of challenges.
Great place to play
Played this course after heavy rain the previous day. I would love to play it when it's dry. I had a great time just was sloppy due to previous rain. Can't wait to go back.
Fun course
The course starts out as a typical subdivision golf course, but it gains character as you go. The course was in excellent condition in spite of all the rain they have had in the last month. The greens were fast and smooth. The tee boxes were in good shape, and the fairways were in very good condition.
Have a GPS
The course is nice and well maintained. It does suffer a few bad spots on the multiple greens, but they are around the edges. The scorecard had only yardage, with no hole overview; they did sell a nice book with all the holes detailed but I found this to be a little bit much. Great deal on Golfnow but it would be a stretch for value if you paid full price.
Great course to play
Nice track! Friendly Pro Shop staff and a fun golf course layout. I didn't play my best golf today but that's golf. I would love to play this course again when I'm in the area.
High quality course
Played the course at the Twilight rate which was an excellent price point for the high quality of the course. Everything was very well kept, fairways were soft, and greens were fast and true, especially for the time of year. A few fairway bunkers were as hard as concrete and could use some resanding, but the ones near the greens were in great condition. Course design gave a sense of isolation as holes were seperated by plenty of woods, as to be expected from a neighborhood golf course.
Poor greens and a morning fivesome
Played here because of good reviews. There is currently a major problem with the greens. Also played a five hour plus round behind a fivesome. They did not allow us to play through. I asked a marshall if this is the norm here and he said he said simply, fivesomes are permitted. Beware. Played a very enjoyable and affordable replay with no holdup and had a good time in the afternoon.
Coast Gem
This is a spectacular course with great greens and tree lined fairways. The greens are multi-teared and well protected. They roll very true. The fairways are tight but not penal. Like all great courses, good shots are rewarded bit mistakes will grab you. Subtle traps and sloping terrain make smart approach shots essential. The pro and his staff are the best around, always looking for a way to make the experience better.
Rates are reasonable and pace of play is usually very good. My favorite course on the Coast.. Do yourself a favor and play the Oaks. Its real golf in a beautiful location.
Pleasant Surprise
The Oaks was thought to be the lesser of the four courses in our package for a Biloxi golf trip. The Oaks was equal to the other courses we played. The greens were smooth and fast the quickest we played on our trip. The course was in excellent shape. The tree lined tight fairways with several forced carries made The Oaks a difficult test of golf. Really enjoyed the course. The clubhouse food is over priced and cooked in a microwave would suggest going off course to eat.
Underrated
For whatever reason, the Oaks never seems to be in the conversation of great Mississippi Gulf Coast golf courses, but as far as I'm concerned, it's nearly on par with the likes of Grand Bear. I've played twice, and both times the conditions have been terrific. Deep bunkers and relatively narrow fairways will keep you on your toes.
Great course
Greens were in great shape along with fairways and tee boxes. Snack cart made it around to us a few times and staff were inviting
Veteran Day Retreat
The course had a nice touch for Veteran's Day by having all of the pins posted with US Flags. However, they did not provide a holder for the pin when it was removed and the flag cannot be laid on the ground. A nice touch but not fully thought through.
An unnecessary bad experience
I Am an average player paired with a father/son couple. The father a beginner and son a highschool team member trying a different course from his usual one for first time. We "paid our fee" just like eveyone else. We where slow and trying to enjoy the day and the nice course. On our own as was proper we continued to allow people to play through. We were continually reminded by the marshall to pickup the pace again and again because a normal round was 4 hrs. That may be the case with a group of "good" players but courses and course personnel should realize that that is not the case with everyone. The course only has a number post by each hole, no indication of hole configuration nor any on the score card; so we are playing blind. I continued to try to help the father beginner and keep him from geting frustrated which made it bad for his son only to have the course worker come along and keep telling us to pick up the pace! That course has managed to take what should have and could have been a good learning experience for father and son into a miserable day. I feel bad for them more than myself!!!
Good course, well maintained.
The staff was very friendly, helpful, and made you feel welcome. Greens were very good. Went back the next day to play it again.
Out of control Sprinklers....
Great course in Pass Christian. They were having an issue with their sprinklers and even though it hasn't rained in a few weeks there were some tee boxes and greens that were muddy and soggy. Other than that it was a great round on a solid course.
Course conditions
This is a fun course to play. It will not be forgiving on many mis-hits. Greens were very fast.
Very poor service and other than the cart girls not very friendly
If you pay more than $25 for a round you are paying too much. It just not at the level of the higher end courses around the state
Great condition
The golf gorse was in perfect condition. The greens were the best I've played on all year.
