Fun hill country, lake view layout
Course was in good shape despite dormant on tees and greens. It is more fun to play when it has "greened up" in the Spring.
Plays long, lots of sand, wide fairways, dormant greens.
The dormant greens are PERFECT, fast and tricky.
Folks running the place were great.
Really a good experience, no gripes, I do wish they had pin placement sheets on the carts, but they did not.
good but greens punched and sanded
Legends is quite a drive from both austin and san antonio, but this also means that there are fewer people on the course. Played with 2 locals. Very helpful and kind. Course was windy and brown (drought here) and the punched greens were disappointing. But the course was fun to play nonetheless.
Great layout
Well worth the visit to Kingsland to play this course. The fairways, greens and rough were in fantastic condition. Large practice putting green (practice some long putts) and a really good driving range. Quick greens will hold approach shots, and putting. Putts roll true and exactly where you aim them. Expect a few three putts, though. Some of the holes challenge your ability to read them. Play this course; you won't be disappointed.
Overcharged $26 for two people. Very open course design with good trapping.
If not for the $26 overcharge (including getting charged for range balls), I would have given a higher rating. A cold front had come through and my wife and I played on an almost empty course. We enjoy the Star Ranch course (where we normally play) more than we enjoyed the Legends course because it is more challenging. Either I was driving super straight or the fairways were wider than I'm used to (it's the latter not the former).
The fairways at Star Ranch are the widest I've ever played. Much wider than Legends.
As a follow-up to this review, I contacted the Legends course and complained about the price discrepancy. They promptly refunded the overcharge. While it would have been best not to have been overcharged to begin with, this is the best response the course could have made following the mistake.
