Wow - What a Surprise
Orgil Golf Course has made a dramatic turnaround. I played Orgil as a high school golfer in the 80's and occasionally played thru the years, but when I went yesterday with my daughter I received a pleasant surprise. The course is in the best shape I have ever seen it. The club house is being remodeled and the new management is on top of real golf solutions and visions. I have always loved the quiet setting and the rolling hills (don't see that very much in Memphis) and now it is coupled with good and getting better playing conditions. Can't wait to see the changes over the next year. If you haven't played Orgil lately, I suggest you go check it out. You will be pleasantly surprised.
Nice Sunday golf.
First the bad. The greens are very inconsistent from one to the next. They had a fungus from the winter leaving bad spots and need to be cut. Cost me at least 5-6 strokes. Other than that; the course is pretty good. Fairways cut. Tee boxes nice. Fun day. Especially on hot deals.
Improved course
Played using the Internet special.
Course has improved over last year - greens & fairways are very playable, the rough is just that - rough, golf carts seem fairly new, some T boxes are difficult to insert the golf t. Staff friendly but somewhat reserved, sodas, chips, beer & snacks ok, burgers & dogs not always available.
Good course, shot an 87
State park
No fuss golf. If you need a place to keep your golf addiction fed, this will do. Plan to play golf and leave. Below Ave range and chip/putt areas.
Good country feel and not a bad place if you feel the need to walk.
Fun Course
Had some different holes. Not all straight down the middle. Doglegs and Challenging Tee Shots. We had alot of fun.
great play for the price
Nice beginner course. Open fairways, nice size greens.
Good practice course
12:00 for 10 bucks! with cart!
Very beautiful scenery but the course and greens are rough. Great for relaxation and good practice course. Have your golfnow confirmation ready to show the cashier, he doesn't have a computer! The course makes no money off golfnow bookings, just free advertising! So the cashier does treat me as a 2nd rate player but who cares? Go pay $50 if you want a great course and good service. The worst thing I experienced was my snap hook! lol!
Guy running the course is a Jerk!!!!
When I got to the course, the guy that was running it was very rude and gets upset if anyone buy through golf now. He would not let us tee off because he "doesnt agree with Golf now" Made us wait 45 mins. The course is ok though. Very open. Just be ready to deal with the guy running the place
they didn't know.. again
Earlier this year I booked with Golf Now. Cashier was snotty because I used the app and said he could beat the price, which he did by 5 bucks per player. This time he said he never gets confirmation from you guys that a tee time was made. I think you should call that course and figure this out. I don't enjoy dealing with a jerk every time to play there. As for the course.. Great condition except for the bumpy fast greens.
State run fun
Fun course. Play the tips for a challenging day. Play up tees for a fun day.
Greens needed a little work but still a good value for the money.
good time
Course is in good condition but the greens had some issues. Pace of play was a little slow but it was a nice day. Cant beat the price
ORGILL PARK NEED A BIG OVERHAUL ON COURSE AND FACILITIES
the club house smells like mold or maybe it has rained in it or maybe the roof was leaking and the carpet got wet.. the people who cooked food were not attending to the food, there were burgers on the grill and no one was attending the food .. I woiuld not eat anything in the club house. the table where they had water was not cleaned like it should have been.the unattendedd food on the grill was not covered. the club house should be shut down and be cleaned. people at this course should be trained better or dismised.People at Origill are getting paid and not doing a good job. This is the wors that i have ever seen Orgill. I will not play this course no more until things change. THIS USE TO BE ONE OF THE BEST IN SHELBY COUNTY.
Wet weather
Weather was wet but, the course drained well.We had fun and got to work on our swing. I would tell any hacker like me to go play here and have fun.
App not needed
Not sure why the course is listed on the app. When we got to the course they said the rate was the same without using the app. Call this course first to confirm the rates, wasted money on booking through the app.
worst course in the greater memphis area
from the moment you walk in things start to go down hill. the guy working at the shop does not even greet you since apparently new business is not welcome. Then he wants a print out of the golf now confirmation which i've never been asked before. he gave me the impression he was angry i got a deal on golfnow. i'm thinking if you don't like golfnow then don't participate. for whatever reason he has me start on the back nine which goes fine until the turn. at the turn there are probably 4 groups waiting to go. i wait for 10 minutes and leave after only 9 holes. will never go back again and do not recommend anyone go. if you're local and its your course and you like it i'm sure you're happy. the players on the course were good guys for sure, it was just the worker and their management of the course that made it horrible.
Great potential but needs work
Great location and great scenery but not taken care of very well and not all the staff is extremely friendly.I recommend it though just because of the landscape in which you get to play on.
never again
i didnt even get to play. they had a tournement scheduled that day but yet still had tee times on the site. i was told it could be hours before i could go off so i left. i will never get a tee time there again no matter how cheap they are.
Unfriendly
The pro was not happy I booked tee time with golfnow.com.It was raining that day and I called course about weather. It was misting I was told.Asked if I could move tee time till next day was told yes but could not use golfnow.com voucher. Now I am sure He could have let me move tee time.He was very rude.
Don't like you using golf now app
This is a good course to play it is kept up well and a decent price. My only thing I didn't like was that 2 different times I was given problems for using the golf now app. They complained that they could reject my offer I had already paid for online because they didn't have enough notice I was coming to play which wasn't my fault the tee time was there to be booked on the app.
Unachieved Potential
The overall lay out of the course was really good, lots of course elevation and scenic water hazards to challenge an intermediate to andvanced golfer. Unfortunately, the course was not well maintained. The course, especially the greens were extremely dry. Putting was difficult due to inconsistent roles. The were many lumps and sand on the greens. Overall the course had a lot of potential but needs work to achieve it. I wouldn't recommend the course for the money. If you can get a deal take it, but don't pay the full $40 weekend price. Take your money to a better maintained course.
