Course is nice but....
I get the feeling they don't like for you to book online... They stopped golf18 which I used there a lot and every time I checked in they were not friendly at all...last time I used it the guy says he was going to quit using them. Unfriendly staff....don't like to play places like that. Won't be back.
This course has Character
I enjoyed lay at this older but well maintained course. The grown trees na water hazards added to teh charm and character of this course. I will definitely pu it on my list for regular play.
Budget course...Worth $20 for Sat Noon tee time
This Millington course is 25-30 min drive from E Memphis. It was in decent condition, greens are not great. Keep it out of the trees and you should score OK.
Great Features, Beautiful Scenery.
A Great Place to get away and challenge yourself. Great bargain with golfnow.com. I live in Memphis and it's definitely worth the drive.
The course was great.
We got an early tee time and got right on the course. It wasn't crowded at all and we enjoyed the experience.
If you love nature you'll love this course!!
I have played this course for several years now. Wide, forgiving, no sand only water hazards that still eat my balls from time to time. Course is rough sometimes but maintained and improved greens later into the season. I love the serene quite view of the lake from the course and lots of wildlife to enjoy.. A very enjoyable, peaceful place to just play and get away from the city!
This course presents a strong but fair test of skills for average and better golfers.
The course was in very good shape except that the greens were inconsistent and had been recently sanded. When I hit fairways and greens , I had opportunities for birdies and pars. I thoroughly enjoyed my round. That enjoyment was enhanced by the excellent rate that I paid by booking on GolfNow.com.
Beginner friendly
First things first, the course was easy to find and once there the staff where very friendly. There is a good driving range to practice on and also a putting green. The course doesn't have any bunkers on which was great for my wife and i suppose a lot of begginers, there is a huge lake but you only really go over a very small part and you can even play around that if you wish. A lot of the holes are dog legs to the right, the fairways were cut to a perfect length, not to long but long enough so the ball sits up a bit which again was perfect for my wife, the greens were cut short and at the time we went there was a bit of sand spread on many of them, that said i could hit the green with any club and the ball would stop quickly and with virtually no pitch mark, there is free water around the course and the golf buggy was included in the $31 green fee, well worth a visit if your in the area
Nice course, worth the drive to play
Nice course, nicely maintained. Felt like we had disturbed the staff by reserving on line. Didn't know we were coming. Only got one bucket of practice balls instead of two. Didn feel that was correct
Good thing about orgill
This course has may straight fairways and no sand. The water is located in places that make it easy to hit around.
This course was a good value for 22 bucks but the greens require some attention. Hope they invest some money into the greens
Same as above...This course was a good value for 22 bucks but the greens require some attention. Hope they invest some money into the greens
Great value, pretty course great for learners
Pretty park- style course w/ wide fairways, no sand, & typically not crowded. $35 full wknd rate, but only $22 twilight during week. Recently added tees now par 72. Makes the most of 4 lakeside holes in design, but o/w not too many places to lose balls. Greens recently aerated but still need a bit of work.
Find another course
While the course itself is challenging (and it's a par 72 not 70 as advertised) the greens are the worst I have ever seen in 25 years of playing this sport. Each Green has SEVERAL bald spots; particularly the back nine. The manager appears to not acknowledge the problem when spoken to directly. Be prepared to "award yourself" a few strokes in the putting department. As far as eye appealing, it is definitely that, as city courses go. Heavily over-priced for the frustration level on the greens, though. I would STRONGLY recommend using a discounted tee time if you want to play this course so that you don't feel cheated. The clubhouse is anything but a pro shop feel as they offer nothing to the golfer as far as purchasing needed or wanted items. Also, there is an employee who, while polite at first meeting, appears to "hit on" quite openly the female guests which is quite distracting and nothing is being done about as the staff claims that the mayors' office ordered the course to employ him... Good luck if you play.
Great value if booked on Golf Now
Got 18 holes with cart for $10.00! Great deal at that price and is easily worth twice that. My only complaint is the lack of distance markers on the course. Other than the red, white, and blue stripes on the cart path, I didn't see a single yardage marker and that includes the T-boxes.
Great Bang for the Buck$$$$
This course was in good shape considering the time of year. The fairways were in good shape as was the Tee Boxes. The only opportunity was the greens had not fully grew in. Again I enjoyed the challenge of the course
Average
Solid course. Some rewarding holes. Some very challenging. Enjoyed experience. Hopefully some improvement as weather improves.
Wait for the grass to come in
Usually hitting from the fairway is a good thing, but struggled with the lack of grass. Still early in year.
Pretty much a dog track
The greens were shaggy and the course was in need of attention for sure. The layout was decent but there are no bunkers and not much of a challenge. Water comes into play on a few holes but okay for a quick round on a weekday afternoon.
good course to work on improving your game
Good course to work on improving your game. Layout is very nice a little work on the course and this could be a great course.
Great Summer Course
This course is great to play during the summer, but not great to play in the winter. They do nothing to the greens during the winter. There are a whole lot of worm holes and debris on the greens from the rain and they don't drag them or anything. It is very difficult when they don't do anything. The course itself is a good test, but easy enough for the average golfer. The park is beautiful and if you walk, this is the place to go. The sights over the lake are breathtaking. Reachable par-5's and hard par-3's make for a very interesting round. Also take in to account the many blind shots and the course really can play hard if you don't hit the fairway. If you aren't playing well, take your camera and get some beautiful shots to remember your day at the park.
