Well it rained 7 holes into playing. Golf course under water with heavy rain. Golfnow would only gove me credit for11 holes. Golf course gave rain checks for those that booked with them. Golfnow should have done the same
Wonderful Course
This course is links style without the tall grass. It rewards you with good play and will punish you are in the rough. It is worth playing this course.
Great Course
Course was in great shape. Greens were fast even though it had rained most of the day. Wasn’t crowded due to the earlier rain so play was quick and relaxed.
Great conditions - slow play
Conditions were great. A bachelors party was holding up the entire course. Front 9 took 3 hrs to play. Marshall moved them to the lakes course after 9 and then it was smooth sailing. Paired up with a 3 some of local regulars and they were super guys. Played for 39 dollars on a golfnow hot deal so it was well worth the money.
Two thumbs up
Glen Lakes always delivers. For the area, you won't find a better course for the price!
Glen Lakes
Fairways in great shape Greens below average carts Good pace of play average need water buckets in heat
Glen Lakes
Have to consider in the Foley/Gulf Shores area the courses are limited. So we played Glen Lakes, price was $70 retail or $45 on GN. I could not see paying $70 but hey limited choices.
The greens were slow and had a lot of crab grass taking over. Tee boxes, fairways where fine, bunkers could have been raked, of course it didn’t help the group in front of us had never heard of a rake before. The staff can get a little grumpy, our cart didn’t have brakes and the starter/ranger didn’t seem to want to believe us.
Hot/steamy day
Really liked the course. Great value for the price. Very friendly staff. Just wish the course had more free water locations to fill your cup. I understand the need to make money but heat index was 110+. We did see the beverage cart twice.
They are losing the greens and areas around the greens. Pace play was extremely slow for this type course
I knew the had aerated, so that is not part of my judgment of the course.
Pace of play was dismal. This is a short, simple golf course. A Thursday in June should not be a four hour 45 minute round. We never saw a marshal. For that matter we never saw a cart girl or guy. Totally no reason for such slow play, EXCEPT the conditions.
The course must not drain, because 6 or 7 holes were cart path only. Played other area courses same week without this issue.
Most of the greens have an invasive weed growing right at the edges of the greens right where the fringe would have been if these weeds weren’t there. No way to put through this stuff
