Great but..
This course is a go to for me every time I visit the area. The folks I have been paired with over the years are always great and the course staff is second to none. My only knock was the bachelor party in front of us got real slow the last 4 or so holes, dragging the day, the heat and the round out. Marshals could have done a better job on them.
Peninsula
Nice course, very close to the Gulf Shores beaches. Fairways and greens were in perfect shape. Some challenging holes but overall a good course for I a senior golfer.
Good course and very friendly, helpful staff
I played 7/8/25 while on vacation. The course was in great shape. The staff was very helpful and friendly. They provided lots of guidance got someone new to the course. I would play again if I'm ever back in the area. .
Disappointing Experience Due to Rude Marshal
I’ve had the privilege of playing at some of the finest golf courses across the country, and I’ve never experienced such poor treatment as I did here. Our foursome was playing a well-paced round, finishing well under four hours, when a marshal approached us on the back nine and very rudely claimed we had been on the course for over five hours…an obvious exaggeration and complete misreading of the situation.
To make matters worse, we had been dealing with constant pressure from the group behind us(apparently members), who were repeatedly hitting into us all day. Rather than addressing the unsafe behavior of the group behind us, the marshal took an aggressive and condescending tone with us…paying guests who were following proper course etiquette.
This kind of treatment is unacceptable, especially at a course that markets itself as a premium experience. Golf should be enjoyable, respectful, and safe. Unfortunately, this experience fell far short, and I will think twice before returning or recommending it to others.
Another great day!
Great course conditions today along with some pretty good weather. We played 36 today, first round took 5 hours. Pace was okay, mostly foursomes and a random group of 5 in front of us. They kept decent pace all things considered. 3 separate 9 holes so we played cypress twice. Marsh and cypress play basically the same as far as greens. Lakes gives you a little view of the bay. Lakes greens are 7 months old and are still very hard, concrete like. I'm a good player who can spin the ball, couldn't hold a green to save my life. Halfway through resorted to playing the Lakes links style. Needless to say there a big difference in scoring over that 9. Good practice area with 2 greens for putting/chipping and a good sized flat range with multiple targets. Lunch in between rounds was great with a special shout out to our waitress Melanie..Great service and a great conversation! Also big shout out to Troy the starter for some great course knowledge and Phillip in the pro shop for just being a solid dude. Highly recommend playing here if you get a chance!
We like it better than Kiva & Craft Farms
We played Lost Key, Kiva Dunes, Craft Farms Cotton Creek and Peninsula this week. We ended up playing Peninsula twice. For the money Lost Key is the best deal. We agreed we would rather play Peninsula vs Kiva and Craft Farms. Kiva has crazy undulations in the greens and the greens at Craft Farms are very grainy. We were rained out after the front nine and the staff quickly gave a rain check/credit good for a year. We called the following AM and they gave us a 10AM tee time and we paid extra to play a full 18. We really like Peninsula. Course was in great condition. Of the courses we played the condition of Lost Key was the best then Peninsula then Craft Farms then Kiva. We come every year for a week to play golf and spend time on the beach.
Great Experience
Got there early, had the lake course to myself. Got through 9 holes in about an hour. Got stuck behind a foursome on the Marsh course, took a bit longer. Overall a great experience. Challenging course with lots of hidden hazards.
Great greens
Great layout and greens. Pace of play a little slow. 4 hours and 35 minutes to play. No Marshall. But I will be back. I could play this course every day.
Slow Play
Course was in good shape. Greens were great. But they over booked the course and both the reception desk and starters were in complete confusion (poor to no communication). Very poor management and noting the large number of players I asked the desk what was the projected course play time, they told me 4:15 hours which I knew to be false. But ever the optimist I decided to play. THREE HOURS and ten holes later (5:24 hrs pace and no Marshalling) I quit the field. It’s been decades since I’ve done that. My advice, plan your tee-time accordingly and don't pay attention to what the front desk tells you. Confirm yourself with the starters. One more thing about that (Starters), there are 4-5 working at any one time and they do a poor job communicating to each other so many times information is lost and consequently your tee- time. Buyer beware.
dead dried grass
I rented clubs and paid for 18 holes, but the course grass was 100% dormant ($225.00). I can understand why a golf course in this area of florida can charge this much $$$, but i wont be going back. Club house employees were great .
Winter Golf Splurge
Winter trip with a buddy hoping to get in a few warmer weather rounds than Tennessee could offer. Weather turned out to be chilly but not too unpleasant. Staff was very friendly. For the price we paid it was disappointing that range balls are no longer included with the fee. Starter told us that the course sold a couple years ago and new ownership started charging extra for range balls. Course was in great shape. Will probably play again on next trip down south but high cost will always be a potential deterrent, especially with several other nice courses in the area.
One of the nicer courses in the area.
Played this course in late December. Greens were in excellent shape, fairways in very good shape. Challenging for a bogy golfer.
Course conditions
As it usually is the course is well maintained and the greens speedy. The best golf course in Gulf Shores hands down. The beer is cold in the grill.
Nice Place to Play
There are 3 nine hole courses to play. The staff was very friendly.
The course is forgiving.and well maintained.
The only thing is you don’t get back to the clubhouse after playing 9. They do have a cart girl, but with limited food options.
Great courses
Nice pace of play, overall greens in great shape. Only issue was the price to play $$$
