Just keep getting better
Great course layout. It is recovering well from years of neglect. Hope this trend continues because it is a fun course to play!
Great value for the money
Course had a couple surprises. Perfect for honing your skills without breaking the bank
Come a long way
I hadn't played this course for many years because it was, essentially, in unplayable condition at any price. But it's gotten a lot better, I was pleased to discover, when I had no other options on short notice.
Most importantly, they fixed the greens which are now excellent, although playing slow due to late fall maintenance requirements. Next Spring should be perfect. Previously, the greens were awful.
I also see they are putting in Bermuda for fairways, which seems a little unusual for a course this far north, but we'll see how that goes. There will be a long transition period but even the fairways -- Bermuda or not -- were improved.
The course layout here is the star, however, and there's a nice mix and lots of play options for players at different skill levels. If you can control your tee shots, you'll be able to play a nice round with an excellent balance of hazards and scoring holes.
If it continues on this trajectory, I'll add it to my rotation.
New ownership
You can tell the new owners are investing in the course. Course is in much better shape then recent years. Tavern has been redone with quality food and great servers/bartenders.
See the Progress
Played with someone who plays there all the time. I like the courses layout. The are doing some work which I respect. Greens looked good and rolled a lil slow but I’ll take that. Overall it’s not bad. I will be coming back.
Frustration
12:50 tee time, Fridy, 9/16. My wife went to pick up cart and Pro Shop person did not allow her to get cart - she had denim shorts on. My wife then told us and went home to change.
My wife and (along with friends) I have played Patriots for nearly 20 years and have NEVER faced this. Her shorts were hemmed perfectly, not worn or tattered, and not even a denim, material - just looked like it. That alone ruined what was going to be a good day of golf.
I completely understand "rules" but in looking at the others playing in front of us ???. Camouflage shorts worn down nearly past his posterior. That was acceptable?? \
I also understand Patriots has a new owner and his attempts to upgrade the course are appreciated - the grounds are improving - will take time but good progress.
The attendant who told my wife was dressed in somewhat "not approved for golf" attire.
The positive note there was Mark - he was professional, caring, and made a simple suggestion - when the attire is not appropriate, let the person know so the next round would be in accordance with the "rules" He represented you as owner exceptionally well and understood the term Customer Service. If we ever decide to return to Patriots, it will be because of him.
Golf in the region is competitive. The one factor that will define a course is the customer experience and customer service. Mrk exemplified the customer service.
It is unfortunate that this occurred and was so avoidable.
From a managerial standpoint I would recommend thinking of the process and how one simple step, a warning if you will, could have completely changed the day for all of us.
Terrible Condition
Patriots Glen has bad fairways and greens, worst shape I have seen the course ever.
