Nice layout, needs work but they are working on it.
Very nice track, a good mix of dogleg and blind tee shots along with right in front of you holes. Bunkering is not over done, but provides good pin protection on the par 3's
Overall bad
While being there, there were a lot of issues with the greens, fairways, and tee boxes. Everything was super patchy and the greens had many divots in it. For 30 dollars I am thoroughly disappointed and cannot think of a worse way to start my weekend.
GolfBoard definitely worthwhile
Tee boxes and greens were in rough shape, fairways were good though. Renting the GolfBoard made the round so much more fun.
Patriot down!!
First and last time playing there.
Paid 32.00 - honestly, worth maybe 10-15 bucks tops.
WHY?
Fairways were weed ridden - and uncut
Greens were in terrible condition - no consistency - lots of dark bare spots. You had to crush your putt to get to the hole - they were that slow.
It’s obvious the course is mismanaged- too bad, the layout was nice to the eye - they could have a gem………..
Great Layout, Poor Conditions
The good:
The layout is very interesting with some straight forward holes with tricky bunker placement and short to mid length risk/reward par 4's. I enjoyed the par 3 layouts with big green undulations. A few water holes broke up the tree lined course well and made for some dramatic tee shots.
The bad:
The greens were some of the worst greens I have seen. Some were shaggy, others had large patches of no grass. I was a bit shocked at the conditions. Some holes were in ok shape, but others barely had any fairway and just patchy grass and a ton of crabgrass.
Even with the bad conditions, I would play here again since I enjoyed the layout, the price was decent ($45 compared to the typical $75 closer to me). Grass can be improved upon so I won't give up on this course yet. I hope to see more recourses spent on the course now that the club house and amenities have been upgraded.
it is a unique track
Slow greens! Tight in some spots. Hope they continue to improve. I want it to stick around!
Greens are cooked
One of my favorite courses... Superintendent has officially lost these green... playable..but zero quality of roll ..
Nice course
First time playing this course the layout is very cool and some of the greens were wet I would recommend more draining set ups and sanding of the greens to improve the muddy greens. I played one of the best rounds of my life with 4 birdies and did very well so I had a great time
Burned
The course is reverting to its old ways. The old number 6 hole is on the edge of looking bad, again. Greens are really in need of closure. Some of these holes need to be shut down until they can be playable. Rough is too high when you have greens that are so beat up. Fairways are getting burned.
Not all that glitters is gold
. New owners spent as much on the bar as they did to improve the course. Greens have been super slow for a year and nothing is improving with green speed. You can’t even put on them . Young starter has been rude multiple times . Dude this is Patriots not Deerfield. Overpriced for the Elkton market. You’ve put lipstick on a pig but she isn’t winning a metals at the fair. Rolling the greens daily would help with green speed but they refuse to spend the money on a decent greens roller. Staffer said we have a greens roller but it’s broke. Not a great place for above average golfers who know the deal ..
Great Course. Slow Greens.
The course is in excellent condition and the layout is great. Only complaint is the speed of the greens. Slow is an understatement.
Didn't think it would be this good.
Reviews are misleading, this is a great course. Renovated, and challenging.
Needs mowing
Played on a perfect Monday afternoon. Waited for people to finish to get a cart. Driving range closed, greens needed mowed (furry and very slow) as did the fairways. Not a bad layout, just needs some work on conditioning.
Customer service matters
Course is getting better. Greens still a little long and slow, but also almost 100% grass covered. Noticed some of the greens they had shrunk down in size, but again, completely grass covered. No noticeable work done to the range yet, even With a scheduled opening of the end of the summer. Fairways are getting better. Occasionally had to roll the ball in the fairway to get a soy patch of grass, but getting better.
Played as a 2some at 12:50 on Father’s Day. Was worried about a potential 5 hour round. Another 2some let us play thru on the 4th hole. Got thru 12-13 holes before running into other players and finished in just over 4 hours.
The 5th star today is for the young cart person that informed us we could take our cart up to the parking lot and he would be happy to bring it back down the hill. Instead of just walking past us, he made a memorable impression and the 5th star for Patriots Glen. Keep up the good work everyone!!!
Come A Long Way
I’ve been playing Patriots for several years. Let’s just say that it used to be cheap and I got what I paid for. But, I liked it anyway and it was convenient. Now, under new leadership, the overall improvements to drainage, fairway and greens conditions, as well as the new off course upgrades and staff; Patriots Glen is really becoming and wonderful place to play. If you were turned off before, please consider giving it another shot. Prices have increased some but I feel that supporting this course will take it from 3.5 stars to regular 5 stars in no time.
Most improved
Second time playing since May, fairways are improving, greens could stand to be rolled but are 100% better than past. Like the layout and can be challenging to stay in the fairways.
