Average at best
Played with my 14 y/o daughter. Was supposed to be with another twosome but the starter was kind and got us out early on our own, but that squished us between 2 foursomes. The 2 groups in front of us were brutally slow, often hitting 2-3 balls a piece off every tee. No ranger in site. Got worse after the turn because of everyone stopping for hot dogs and transfusions. The course itself is a fun layout. But conditions aren’t great, shaggy greens rolling at like a 1. Four different types of grass in every hole, hard pan on half the course, swampy on the other. Nice carts with GPS but that money should have been spent elsewhere. Clubhouse is basically a party crib. Loud music, kids partying. Music in the course from a bunch of carts, could hear it 4 holes away.
Not an enjoyable round. Only positive was the starter was really nice.
Not going back anytime soon.
Refund
I was cut off on the 15th hole and was told I wasn’t able to finish my game because there was a men’s league going in. When I asked if I could be reimbursed for the inconvenience they told me there is nothing they can do.
Best shape in years
The course is in the best shape I've seen in years. Carts now have GPS on them, which is always helpful. Greens were in exceptional shape as well.
And the Tavern has been redone and is a good time.
Horrible
I’ve been in cow fields that were in better shape. But the worst was a 3 hour front 9 and requesting for a ranger 3 times and nothing. On 11 I decided to drive up a hole and found the one group holding everyone up. Skipped to 12 and it was wide open. So the lack of consideration from the ownership to care about pace of play ruined many customers rounds on Father’s Day. Played this course last summer and was in great shape. They need to cut their rates in half and be a dog track. Never again. Thanks for the hospitality.
Huge steps in the right direction
I forgot how much I really enjoy the course layout. About 14 months for me and 3 first timers today. Driving range is under construction (2-tiered “top golf” style range apparently coming soon). Separate putt and chipping greens in nice condition. As the bag-drop chap said “greens are a bit furry” - definitely on the slow side of slow but, nice and “true” - to be fair, there was a ton of rain this week.
Fairways have been reseeded and should be amazing by the fall. The new “geezer” grounds crew have made some nice tweaks to bunkers and green approaches as well as some of the tee boxes.
4.5 hour round - if anything, we were a bit slow..
Refurbished main amenities - enlarged bar, tons of screens, fantastic deck and a new whiskey bar. The food was well priced and delicious, with super fast delivery considering the number of patrons. The bar staff are clearly enjoying the new vibe and it shows. Great service across the board.
Keep it up and looking forward to seeing the next facility updates and the maturation of the ground keeping efforts.
Gem
Friday afternoon before a long weekend. Got out just before a lot of folks showed up.
Well maintained course-greens were best I've played at any course in Delmarva, not that I putted well.
Part of it runs along Amtrak, so you get a train roaring through from time to time.
Back 9 is more through a neighborhood, so a little bit of a trek between holes, but course is well put together. Only a 30 minute drive from Newark, DE.
I like playing new courses and rarely playing same place twice, but I may be back for another round here.
Fairways need attention.
Been playing here once or twice a season since it reReopened. The fairways have not improved since very uneven grass growing. At least two dominant types one of which causes tuffs of grass. Also no driving range yet. Kind of tough walking out on the first tee without a chance to loosen up.
Great Golf Experience
The course was in great shape with many upgrades since last summer
Capt Bobby Warfield
I can't say enough about this golfing experience.
The course is absolutely beautiful. In the time that the new owners have been here, the upgrades to this course are nothing short of phenomenal.
Mark, Matty, John , and the rest of the greens crew are artists at what they do. From the new pot bunkers to the beautiful greens, and all the other design, drainage upgrades, to the other numerous tasteful touches they have brought to this course, its only a matter of time before this will be hands down, the nicest Golf Course on the upper bay.
John and all the pro shop staff are totally professional, and as accommodating, and friendly as you will find anywhere.
The clubhouse layout, amenities, food and entertainment are well worth a visit, whether you are playing golf or not!!
OK but nothing special
Decent course but not great. To their credit, it does look like they’re making an effort to improve the layout, especially with the bunkers. Got a good deal on GolfNow so I didn’t really mind that the course was average. The best part of the day was the bartenders in the restaurant. Hey now 🔥
Always a good time!
The course was in much better shape this time for us! Although the last time we played it was still the “offseason” so that’s why! The brand new carts are SWEET and the GPS system that comes with them are very nice. All in all, I love playing this course and will definitely be back!
Great course for the money
A course that is actually cost rated appropriately. Not the nicest course by any means but very solid and in nice condition. Greens were better than most 90$ courses around.
Good course unfriendly staff
Nothing wrong with the course but we booked on GolfNow and got there early. When we checked in, they said we could not have a cart key until five minutes before our tee time. No problem with that but we wanted to drive to the practice area since we were 35 minutes early and they refused the key. By the way, no one was on the first tee.
