One of the Houston area's newest courses, Cypress Lakes Golf Club was designed by Jim Fazio, who carved the course out of the thick pine trees and used a significant number of lakes and bunkers to spice up this mounded track. Four sets of tees provide options ranging from 5,351 yards to 7,024 yards at the tips. In addition to the layout, the experience at Cypress Lakes is enhanced by the impressive driving range, which is complete with target greens guarded by bunkers -- an unusual look for a basic driving range.

Fun course but way too easy to lose balls
Cypress Lakes is a fun well laid out course. It is fairly tight and guarded with many water hazards and bunkers, which makes it fun and challenging for its relatively short length. But the biggest problem on this course is that the first cut of rough just off the fairway is too long. This makes it very easy to lose balls that just missed the fairway. I have only played the course twice and plan to again. But I have lost over 6 balls each time in the GRASS, not in water hazards. That should not happen—you shouldn’t lose your ball when you know it is in the first cut of rough just off the fairway. If they would just cut the first rough one inch shorter it would make the whole experience so much better.
Not the best condition
Some green are in really bad shape, some fairways are also in poor shape even some portions without any grass
Slow... Slow... Slow
Considering all the rain recently, course conditions were about as good as they could get. It shouldn't take 5+ hours for a twosome on a Tuesday afternoon! Never once saw a marshall and the two foursomes that held the entire course up was playing their own tournament and could care less about anyone else. I know, I know foursomes have priority but a little consideration and management that at least tries to keep groups moving along would sure go a long way to improving the experience at Cypress Lakes.
Roughs are high for lost balls and bumpy greens
Love this course but first time super high roughs for lost balls if Mishits and greens are all very bumpy compared to the usual from all the times before..what happened here???
In great condition
Course is currently in great condition, fairways and greens are very nice. Only area of improvement would be the sand bunkers being rock hard or have a bunch of standing water in them.
Pace of play was pretty rough… 4 hours and 19 minutes for the 18 holes round.
But overall I enjoy the course and am always glad to play it.
Slow Greens. Poor pace of play.
We played after recent heavy rains. Cary path only but did not need to be. All bunkers unplayable. They do not drain. They are water hazards. You will lose balls in several feet of water. The carts are best up. Torn seats. Busted fronts and glass. This should be $50 round on the weekends, and not $80+
Aerated Greens/Grumpy Staff
The course condition was much better than 3 or 4 ago when I played it. HOWEVER the greens had been aerated and was not a good round putting. I'm normally a good putter. I realize it needs to be done, but when you make the Tee-time, why can't they tell you, or at least tell you when you check in. Of course don't expect that from the grumpy guy in the pro shop. Whatever happened to friendly good service. Was thinking about joining the club, but with the attitude of the pro shop, NO.
Course was in great shape…
I was pleasantly surprised after reading all the reviews. The greens were not as fast as they used to be but right now everything is green and I would def play every weekend. We were lucky, we teed off at 12:30, the start of the heat, but there was cloud cover in and out. It wasn’t as crowded because of the time of day. Looking forward to my next round here.
Good course
The layout and playability was good. The course was in good condition, except for the bunkers.
Great Course and awesome staff
Course was a bit slowed. Fairways and greens were in a good shape.
