One of the Houston area's newest courses, Cypress Lakes Golf Club was designed by Jim Fazio, who carved the course out of the thick pine trees and used a significant number of lakes and bunkers to spice up this mounded track. Four sets of tees provide options ranging from 5,351 yards to 7,024 yards at the tips. In addition to the layout, the experience at Cypress Lakes is enhanced by the impressive driving range, which is complete with target greens guarded by bunkers -- an unusual look for a basic driving range.

Underwater!
Upon arriving the pro told us the front 9 was closed and we would have to play the back nine twice. I was not excited about that and had no idea that was the deal until I got there. He said he would give us a special price of $45 for our inconvenience… I paid less than that on GolfNow. Because they were cramming everyone in the back 9 it was very slow off the 10th tee. By the time we made the turn the pace of play did get better.. course was a decent layout, fairways and greens weren’t bad. All the bunkers were full of water and there were some surprise ponds in the middle of the fairways.
I know we’ve gotten a lot of rain lately but put some drainage in!
great place to test your medal
absolute great test of where you stand as a golfer especially if you play the back tees 😳
Holes 2, 3, 4, 8, 10 16 & 18 are worth the price of admission alone. greens are in makable shape. Not to say there are bad. they roll well. Only minus is the lack of grass on the course.
over all very nice place to slap it around for 18 holes.
Outstanding Weekend Pace
I'm not sure if it's because it was supposed to rain later in the day but this was the first time in years I played a round in under four hours on a weekend. The course itself was in pretty good shape which is what counts but the practice areas were pretty rough. The range was beat up and a lot of my range balls were caked in dirt/mud. The putting green was closed and looked like it was in need of repair. But on the course the greens were fine and the bunkers were good. Most of the holes are tree-lined and the front nine has a fair amount of water. All good challenges. Given the cost of this sport these days, I guess $81 was a fair deal. I'd probably wait a while before returning to see if they practice green can get back on its feet. But I'll certainly be back.
Good Shape
The course was in very good shape today except some sandy spots on a few greens. The pace of play was very good for CL as sometimes it can be slow. Great weather… good day!!
Mr.B
Only issue greens # 9 & 18 were just sanded , will go back to play soon
Looking for turf
The turf is lacking. They had an issue with water last year and it looks like its a struggle to bounce back. Grass is a little thin too. Having said this, now the course. Love the layout! Holes 2-4 will eat your lunch, burp and tell you same time same place tomorrow! They were raised by wolves for sure. 18 is all on its own. Of course if you hit the ball 300+ your good. otherwise be ready to leave wanting a rematch.
Great course
Read all the reviews about the course being in bad shape and saw the price to play and decided why not. We went and found the carts are in rough shape but the course was in very good condition. I guess the rain last week may have helped. The carts on the other hand, the first one we got was dead, and the second one had a blown out fender and several had torn seats. They have no ice chest on the carts to keep drinks cold, instead they give you an ice bag.
Terrible Course Conditions
Should've known from start at the driving range that this course was going to be in poor condition and it was. Don't waist your money here there are number of courses in the area that are in much better condition.
Paid To Reserve And Course Was Closed
Nobody notified us that the course was closed but they still took my credit card to reserve a tee time. We showed up and it was completely closed down.
A former Great Course is going down Hill
Real poor Golf Course condition....I heard that will be constructing Houses instead of improving the Course ...It is a shame but building houses must be great business ...the tee boxes were dirt the greens have weeds all over ...Not coming Back
