One of the Houston area's newest courses, Cypress Lakes Golf Club was designed by Jim Fazio, who carved the course out of the thick pine trees and used a significant number of lakes and bunkers to spice up this mounded track. Four sets of tees provide options ranging from 5,351 yards to 7,024 yards at the tips. In addition to the layout, the experience at Cypress Lakes is enhanced by the impressive driving range, which is complete with target greens guarded by bunkers -- an unusual look for a basic driving range.

Back 2 back 4-some
I can't believe there is no starter who can at least manage the start time, as a couple of guys started their tee time 30 minutes earlier when there was no one at the first tee box.
Windy
This course shows its teeth when it gets breezy. Lost golf balls and higher scores…many water hazards. That said..,better greens you’ll never see…smooth and consistent.
Slooooooooow Play
Avoid this place on the weekends at all costs. Week days it's one of my favorite places in the area to play. It's affordable and their greens typically are comparable to the best courses in Houston. Course condition wise my only complaint is tee boxes are almost all terrible. No big deal though. The rest of the course is great. But again on the weekends you'll be lucky to finish a round in 5 hours. They stack the tee times way too close. On top of that there's almost never a marshal there to get people moving.
Not The same condition it used to be
Unfortunately this course is going downhill. If the right price it is definitely worth it, the layout is still great.
There were many t-boxes not being used due to no grass on them, there were also lots of spots in fairway with no grass. Just had to play the ball where you can move it. The greens were quick as usual but didn't have much grass. Bunkers were very firm and lacking quantity of sand.
Hit or Miss
Cypress Lakes is a "Hit or Miss" course! This outing was a little bit of both. Course gets a lot of traffic but pace was better than last time. No range balls available! Maybe the tractor driver was off? Sprinklers came on while course was still open. Will probably have to adjust timer since it's staying light longer.
Not in good shape for the money
The course was in rough shape from tee to green...similar to like Herman Park or Sharpstown...but much more expensive.
It used to be better.
Need a bit of care
The only thing that was good were the green.
Tee box need a lot’s of love, fairway is missing a lot .
Greens in excellent shape.
Fairways a bit sparse but a little rain would help.
Sand traps looked really good but only surface sand, very hard beneath
BUMMER - Has gone surprisingly downhill recently
Has been a favorite course of mine for quite a few years. Even after they ran into watering problem last year due to a fire, they had brought it back to a reasonable condition. But I played it again on 2/26/2024 and the condition of the tee boxes and fairways was VERY disappointing. Greens were decent. Bunkers ok.
It's been questioned for some time now if the course will be replaced by houses. This hasn't helped those questions.
Fairways improving
The course today was in good condition and the fairways are recovering from the problem they had with the sprinkler system earlier. The pace of play was good and the greens were in very good shape. Mucho windy!!!
Wasted money
The range was closed because the picker was broke, the fairways, tee boxes and greens were all bad and they still changed $80.
Nice golf course
It was a great experience. All the staff are kind and professional.
The course is in rough condition. The range had almost no grass to hit from, and there are many dirt patches in the fairways. I know they had a watering problem last summer, but it doesn't seem like they have invested in fixing the issues since. Until they invest some money in bringing the course back into shape, I wouldn't play here.
Gone Down Hill
Hadn't played here in awhile. It used to be a quality course. This time a lot of dirt on the fairways, no grass. Greens not very good either. Gentleman i played with said there was a fire in the pumping station last summer during drought, so they couldn't water the fairways. Not sure if I'll play here again, but if i do, it will be at least 6 mos so great can grow
