Bear Creek Golf Club - East Course
About
Bear Creek Golf Club's East Course is considered a tad more difficult than the West, with tighter fairways and smaller greens. Fourteen of 18 holes dogleg, so its label as a target course is accurate. Elevation changes make club selection a challenge, and the par 5s are tough to reach in two. No. 5 stands out on the front: a 385-yarder that doglegs left and involves an approach over water. No. 8 is longer (418 yards) and features water in the fairway landing area and along the right side. On the back, no. 15 is the signature, playing 432 yards and tricky because of the blind approach shot.

Bear Creek East First Time
Course has an interesting layout. A must to have someone with course knowledge playing with you. Bunkers are totally unplayable; nothing but dirt depressions. Course allows fivesomes & had two in front of us. Play was ridiculously slow. Will be awhile before I return.
Bear West
Was told driving range was under construction. Saw guys out there later. Not sure what happened there. Careful on hole #1 - the fairway is literally falling into the river. Nasty little “feature” if you fade your tee shot. Stay left. On the first long par 5 the middle of the fairway has eroded. Good news is it trapped my drive. My friend’s drive rolled about 50 yards back down the hill. Fairways tight and dry and roll - in every direction.
Generally the fairways are tight. Greens were in great shape today. Fast but not slick. True roles. Several holes were missing tee box markers so I think we played blues all day. Friend had a range finder. Bring one.
Disappointing Experience - Very Overbooked
Was really excited to play Bear Creek (East) for the first time, but I was very disappointed in how the day went. I do not recommend going on a Saturday afternoon.
- Tee time was pushed back by 45 minutes
- Resulted in only being able to complete 12 holes before sunset
- No range balls available and no room on the driving range
- Course was overbooked and backed up all day
- No concessions were offered or made for the delay / inability to finish
Enjoyed the course layout and would maybe consider playing again when the course is less busy.
nice course always overcrowded
every time I've been here it's always backed up..... pace is so slow it sucks....
LAst 18 before hand surgery
Greens were in really good shape. The rest of the course was good for late fall dormant conditions. Curiously, lots of blue tee markers missing. Pace of play was ok, but they had allowed 4 groups of 5somes ahead of us,. Got paired up with a group of guys. Enjoyed my last round before surgery.
Solid course
Given the month (November), the course was in great shape. It had rained hard the previous evening so the bunkers were unplayable (full of water). Apart from that it played very well. Fairways and greens were in great condition, I cannot speak to the rough. I never played in it
A Great Fun Course
Not so often to find an elevated course with many dog leg holes in DFW area. Also, the course is good condition including the greens.
Quick and straight ahead
Shorter more simple course. Course is in great shape! Staff is friendly and helpful. Marshall came by a few times to make sure everyone was on pace. Carts could use some updating (old gas carts and ours had a squeak in the brakes). Finished in 3 hrs 10 mins. For a 4 some.
Good course, good value
Course was in very good shape for mid-November. Greens were running fast. Pace of play was a bit slow but overall, a pleasant golf experience.
slow pace
Had a gorgeous day but pace of play was horrendous
Had a 110pm tee time.. got off early at 1230pm but was by myself as a single and hampered by the fact that I had two threesomes in front of me that were slow and didnt allow me to play through. So it was a stop start
round. Had to wait a few times for them to putt out as they went back and forth measuring putts..Finished nine holes at 245pm.. so a litile over two hours and 15 minutes. With still 9 to play and the sun setting at 5 pm i
quit my day and went home.
