Limestone Springs Golf Club

This course has an amazing layout and has the potential to be great, but the maintenance is terrible. It’s riddled with poa annua and other weeds. The fairways are extremely thin and mostly dirt, and the tee boxes are sand with very little grass. The municipal courses in Nashville are in better shape right now than this course.

The layout of the course is the attraction at Limestone Springs. Although challenging the fairways are generous and the greens can be very good. Unfortunately, the last two times I visited the course with my son from out of town the greens were in bad shape and it spoiled the experience. However, I speak highly of this course w/ others. My recommendation would be to check on green conditions before spending the time.

Huge fan of Limestone, it’s such a fun course. The greens are starting to get better. They looked the best that they have since last spring/early summer.

Greens were air rated and not rolled then were sanded with sand that wasn’t filtered so there was small stones covering the whole green. Course also has serious drainage issues. Course has potential to be a great course but needs cash.

The course was nice and mostly well maintained. A handful of the greens were in rough shape with some “bumpy” areas. It was a very slow round mainly because it was cart path only. Great staff very friendly.

I had not played Limestone Springs in some time. The layout and the aesthetics were still as good as I remembered even for winter golf. The course was a bit wet due to recent heavy rains but that didn't really deter our enjoyment of our round. I look forward to returning in the Spring to enjoy it when the grass is green again and the greens are in top shape. The staff was very welcoming and friendly.

Great course. Winter conditions as expected. Wet around most greens and on some tee boxes but an overall good experience. Will definitely be back in the spring or summer!

We had a wonderful outing at Limestone Springs and for this time of year, the course was in great shape. It was a pretty long drive from Hoover (1 hour) but a nice opportunity to break out of quarantine for the day. This course has always been one of my favorites in Alabama - we’ll definitely be back.

We played it twice in the last week. Doesn’t drain exceptionally well, but that’s understandable. Love the layout and the greens. Beautiful. Carpet in the traps, a few of the greens are struggling, and the tee boxes are soggy. This used to be one of the best in the state. Wouldn’t hurt to throw some capital back into it- perhaps there is a plan?

Course is in good condition except for s few of the greens. Sand traps did not look very good, but luckily I missed all of them.

Recommendations for the course.

Golf course needs to implement colored tees such as red, yellow, white and blue. Also, the GPS is good, but the course needs 150 yard markers for yardage references and to be used as aiming points. These two suggestions are easy to implement. It is very difficult to find which tee you are playing with the current system of Roman numerals printed on rocks.

Beautiful course. Cool day in December so very few golfers. Love the course layout - playing along the valleys between the ridges. Made each hole feel secluded.

Conditions were great given December. The greens were very playable even though they are still battling some issues. Pins are located away from those spots.

Would love to play this course when it is warmer and the fairways are green.

Great clubhouse complex.

At one time a played this course regularly. The last time I played it was a couple years ago it needed a lot of work. I played the course yesterday and was excited to see that it was coming back into the course it used to be. A couple of greens needed some work but overall they were pretty good.

Played here for the first time with family while visiting. Beautiful course, well maintained. Layout was great for mid-level golfers. Can’t just grip and rip but not too hard that you have to play every shot perfect. Caught a hot deal on Golfnow but it was a hot steal!

We got a great online rate making this worth it for a Saturday. Some of the greens are in rough shape but not as bad as I what I was expecting after reading recent reviews. Many of the tee boxes were muddy. I wonder if they could have overseed some rye grass to help that problem out. It's a great layout.
