A lot of fun. Very friendly staff. Touch screen on cart. Watch out - cart will stop forward progress if you try to drive into restricted areas. This was a first for me. You can reverse gear to back out.

Great course, great people. The course was in excellent conditions. The greens were almost perfect. This course is probably one of the best values in the state, if not the best.

A lot of negative reviews for this course on this website. This course has always been one of the best conditioned in the area. It has been a few years since I have played here. I will say that it’s current condition is not the best I’ve ever seen it to be in, but contrary to the recent reviews it’s in pretty nice shape. Apparently according to recent reviews there has been an ownership change etc. What I can tell you is that the course is in good shape, a few greens and tee boxes have some issues but they are minor. Work on going throughout the course. We saw tree removal and other major work being performed on several holes. My suggestion is to give this course a try,. If you are skeptical wait for a hot deal time and give it a shot. I can’t seem to remember a course I’ve played or a round of golf being worse than being at work. We were happy and we will be back.

This is still a fantastic layout in a beautiful setting, but now it is in such poor shape it is only a value at hot deal rates. I understand it is under new ownership and the greens are in much better shape and that with warmer nights the fairways should improve. Aeration would certainly be a worthwhile investment. If you can’t afford to upkeep the bunkers then grass them over. There are downed pine trees on several holes that have been there for months , the exact same ones. The same drainage system issues are still unfixed in the middle of a number of holes. I hope the new owner decides to fix this gorgeous place or reduce the green fees so everyone might come experience it once or twice. Currently, anybody paying rack rate is not coming back.

Played a friendly round with members from my golf meetup group. Corse was in great shape and staff were friendly and efficient.

The only critique I have is that the director of golf has not yet entered hole by hole index information in the GHIN system for the course so players may enter hole by hole scoring and advanced stats in GHIN when they play here.

Course is looking much better under new ownership. Greens were impressive. Looking forward to seeing what the future holds.

Course was not pristine, greens had some bad spots but rolled well, tee boxes and fairways in decent shape.

Overall nice layout could be better maintained but for hot price well worth it.

Limestone is still a wonderful course, even though some of the greens are in pretty bad shape. Since the last time I played, they have done some great work on the bunkers. Fairways are in good shape. Great value on Golf Now!

I had heard the course wasn’t as good as it used to be but I thought it was great. Fairways and greens were great. If there were anything bad I would say the tee box. The tee boxes had a little overgrown grass but not bad enough to effect the course. I would definitely suggest it to friends and I will definitely be back.

Glad it was only $19.99. If I had paid full price I would ask for refund. I understand the course is going through ownership change you can tell they are letting it go. The layout is awesome and the views are spectacular but the course is horrible shape. Will not go back until the get it under control.

The Good: Driving into the golf complex, Limestone Springs is an impressive upscale facility with a stellar Jerry Pate woodland design and all the amenities you could ask for a public course to have. Heavily undulated design traverses through hills and has some of the most spectacular views of any courses in Birmingham. The Par 5 variety is excellent and there are many strong dogleg left Par 4's. The grouping of Par 3's rival only Pursell Farms in the area. Greens putt pretty true compared to the overall course conditioning. Nice clubhouse staff and multiple on-course restroom areas are helpful. Pace of play was excellent given course was empty on a beautiful Sunday morning.

The Bad: Arguably the worst conditioned upscale golf course I've ever played. The fairways were comparable to a yard of a vacant home with uneven patches of grass all over the course. Sand complexes were disappointing as well and nearly unplayable. Ridiculous that the course was charging nearly $100 considering the conditions. No on-course service on a Sunday morning was disappointing.

The Verdict: Limestone Springs has the bones to be one of the best courses in all of Alabama. Unfortunately its now just a spoiled design due to the poor conditions. I hope it gets better after a tough winter otherwise I can't imagine how the course generates enough play to improve.

Best Hole: There are many spectacular holes, but the downhill Par 5 8th requires a cut drive and then a tough approach over water to elevated green.

Course is coming out of hibernation. Harsh winter temperatures and excessive rain has prevented Limestone from blooming into Spring, but course is in decent shape.

Greens are quicker than they look, though a bit bumpy. Players please fix your pitch mark and another one - it is imperative to keep these Bent greens rolling right!

The fairways are a bit thin - again, a result of Mother Nature - but they are greening up. Traps still need some TLC.

Not sure if the course is still doing foursome specials, which were a tremendous value in the past. The $94 rack rate is a bit steep in my opinion, considering the other public options available in greater Birmingham. However, the $49 twilight rate that starts at 2 pm on the weekends is competitive. You can save a few more bucks after 4 pm.

Was surprised to see that many greens were in peril. Not sure what has happened since I was here about a month ago. Everything else is in good condition, but the greens are bare in many spots and very shaggy.
