About
Located just minutes from LAX, Rio Hondo Golf Club is conveniently accessible from the South Bay and Orange County. Golf Digest has ranked the course as one of southern California's "Places to Play." The 6,370-yard layout is narrow and challenging, placing a premium on accuracy off the tee. Many locals consider it to be the toughest golf course in the area. The course features tight, tree-lined fairways and subtly contoured greens that are faster than they look. It's not a particularly long layout but the par 3s provide some good length. Golfers will face a variety of challenges throughout, but there is also plenty of scenic respite. Sparkling lakes and cascading waterfalls are scattered across the landscape, coming into play on a few holes as well. In addition to the golf course, there is also a lighted, 30-station driving range at Rio Hondo G.C.

Slow Play
Play was extremely slow, better management needed on this day. Have played the coarse before without no problems. With that said I will return.

Course Needs Work
1. Put more sand in the bunkers. Too many hard packed areas where you might as well consider taking relief instead of grounding your club into the 1/8 inch sand and blading the shot over the green.
2. Fertilizer, and please toss some seeds into the fairways and rough. Green side rough was terrible in places where it was patches of grass with dirt exposed. Please fix this course so it will be the greatness that it’s advertised to be.

The Course
Friends had told me to play this course years ago but never did, decided it today, the pace of play was good ,and the course was in very nice condition.
Nice pro at the shop and well maintained pro shop, will be playing again in the near future

Tee time confusion
There were SIX golfers booked for 10am. Myself and playing partner, and a 4 some. How did that happen? Also- the course in front of us was really SLOW. We played as 2, and a 4 some. I waited every hole on the front for every shot. Sometimes for 2 groups. Marshalls. PLEASE.
We apologize for the pace of play issue you experienced. We always try to keep a great pace when having our golfers on the course. Worth the Money
This was the first time we played this course. It is pricey for this area, but it is one of the nicer courses. The front nine is really challenging. A lot of hills uneven lies. Back to back par 5’s and par 3’s. Kind of strange. Back nine is where you can make your move! Two short par 4’s and better layout. We’re going back to go low!

Fun course with lots of trees. But manageable , with good layout . Pace of play is a little slow so be prepared .

Slow.
Every par 3 was backed up at least 3 groups. Talk about a round killer. Overall the course was in good condition, but the pace of play was atrocious.

Rio hondo
The course was in great shape and very reasonably price compared to other courses. The pace was a little slow but overall challenging for a newer play like myself. The greens and tee boxes were beautiful and I am definitely going to go back for another round.
