Rio Hondo Golf Club

Greens are good but the players do not have any etiquette, no one fix their divots / ballmarks. Fairways was a bit hard and painted. Usually the cart is out but not on this day. Staff is always great. Pace of play was over 4.5 hours, there was no one behind me so I was able to circle around #4, 5, and then #6, 7 & 8 to create some space so I was not waiting behind 2 groups on the tee. I still caught up to the group ahead of me by the 16th.

The guys at the pro shop are always nice and have great service! I was able to go on early to get paired up with two other guys who were really nice and made the game more fun! Unfortunately the 4 some in front of us were very slow on the greens. Other than that it was a great day out. The greens were in perfect condition, flawless! The fair ways excellent, got lots of roll with my drives for extra yardage!

I tee off 20minutes later than my reservation time.

The pace was too slow and so I played only 13 holes before dark.

Terrible experience

Nice muni course in the middle of the town. Fairly tight course with tall trees lining many of the fairways.

Course gets a lot of play and balls are flying all over .

Only negative was the pace of play - even saw some 5somes ! Friendly staff.

We selected this course because it was less than 30 minutes away from LAX.

Probably would play it again - weekday may be better.

Course was in great condition. Greens were quick and rolled true. Pace was a little slow but probably due to being pseudo-holiday (Black Friday). Anyway, highly recommend this classic tree-lined course.

Always enjoy playing this course. But you have a ton of people who don't fix ball marks. The day we played the group ahead of us was hitting 2 or 3 balls in a foursome. It was mainly one guy who was limping. Gotta get those marshall's out there. Otherwise never a complaint.

All I can say is nice, very nice for a old course is well kept. It is a moderate in difficulty and surely will play again soon. Keep it up rio hondo

It took 3 hours to play 9 holes, quit after 9, just wasn't enjoyable....

Rio Hondo is an extremely nice golf course to play. I got a great deal for $39, but even at the normal rate of $52, I feel it's a good deal.

The fairways are very well manicured... you just don't see this on other public courses.

Greens were very soft and in great condition.

We were the first group out at 6:15am, and our round took about 3 hours 20 minutes.

Played this muni course again by myself in a twosome yesterday with a bargain afternoon Hot Deal, met with a friendly pro-shop staff. Course was wide open at the time of play, so the pace of play was phenom. Course condition has been great thru out the tee boxes, fairways and greens, like I have said before, Rio Hondo Golf Course is a jewel in the heart of Los Angeles, great muni course owned by City of Downey.

The course is in good shape with green lush grass in almost every location. The only minor issue I had was that the greens were a bit slow and bumpy. But they were at least consistently like that across the entire course, so you got used to it. Pace is really slow because the course is full, because it's a nice course worth playing on. You won't zip through it in 3.5 hours, you're gonna enjoy a long 5 hour round.

We had an excellent day. It was a great value with my VIP membership. The only small complaint was that the greens were a little slow, but ran very true.
