Located just minutes from LAX, Rio Hondo Golf Club is conveniently accessible from the South Bay and Orange County. Golf Digest has ranked the course as one of southern California's "Places to Play." The 6,370-yard layout is narrow and challenging, placing a premium on accuracy off the tee. Many locals consider it to be the toughest golf course in the area. The course features tight, tree-lined fairways and subtly contoured greens that are faster than they look. It's not a particularly long layout but the par 3s provide some good length. Golfers will face a variety of challenges throughout, but there is also plenty of scenic respite. Sparkling lakes and cascading waterfalls are scattered across the landscape, coming into play on a few holes as well. In addition to the golf course, there is also a lighted, 30-station driving range at Rio Hondo G.C.

Very nice public course
I played in a Monday and got off early Well before my tee off time. Finished in three and a half hours. Solid course layout. Nice greens in good shape even though they were punched a week ago. Lots of maintenance activity at the course which is good. Played from the blues and it was a fair challenge for a low handicapper. I’ll definitely be back. Good value for the money. All thumbs up here. They have a nice double decker driving range. Only complaint was no water on the course.

40 minute delay on tee time 5 hr round group in front of us we’re playing from the wrong set of tees for there ability
Great course, horrible pace this time around.
Great course and great staff, just the groups of 5 were horrible. Took 4 hours to get to 13 where we eventually quit. Greens are in good shape, fairways are thin and browning, otherwise a good track.
Course in good condition
I have played this course many times over the years. It is always in good condition. The greens are currently in excellent condition. There are a few fairways on the back 9 that are dry and hard but other than that the rest of the course was also in good condition. We teed off at 7:24am on a Friday and didn’t have to wait on a single hole. Pace of play was excellent. I am not a fan of the back to back par 5s and back to back par 3s on the front but other than hat the course layout is pretty good. The front plays harder than the back in my opinion. Maybe that is their way making you feel better on your way out to keep you coming back.
Great Course...pace of play was terrible and the staff were not even helpful
Had a 940 tee time, Rio Hondo staff had me at 956; and we were told were are running a little slow today...10:15 am, we finally tee off. Waited on every hole after every shot. After 9 holes at 1:30 pm, went to the office and spoke to staff, he didn’t really care. Spoke to manager and offered a free round next time.
Good course
This course is well kept. Trees need a little trimming. lol. But all in all this is a good track. Pace a little slow, but we finished in 4.5 hours.
Great Experience
An overall great experience at Rio Hondo Golf Course. Weather was great, staff very customer friendly, greens in good condition (other than some pin placements were tough) and fairways were in good shape. We'll definitely be back.
Very friendly staff, overall very nice course!
The staff is always very friendly and accommodating. The course conditions are well kept. Only downside is the pace of play. Not sure if it’s the double par 3s on 7 and 8 or the groups of 5 but it took us 5 hours to finish.
Bad Pace
Time was 11:48 not 7:48. Got there about 11:15 and no one on the tee, Then threesome , twosome , foursome and fivesome called. Did not tee off till 12:05 or so and finished just before 5:00pm and sunset had already happened. Foursome and Fivesome did not play ready golf at all.
I enjoy the course but I just ran into the I don't care about you groups.
