Poor Golf Course in Florida Now
its is own by the bank and will be close on the end of May, the golf is unplayable the last 5 holes since there is no greens, they are abandoned and they install the flag somewhere in the fairway to finish hole, the tees are full of weeds and one are gone out completely, the golf will be close to grow cows.
its imperative the golf now do not allow players make tee times since its a golf that you can not play a decent golf game. simple as that.
Thanks for the update
So sad to read this as we have been to Orlando area on golf trips for years and was one of our must plays!
Will it be saved?
Poor Golf Course in Florida
I been many times here more than 20 but yesterday after my last play in December the golf course when bankruptcy is not a decent golf course. all weeds around, in bunkers are full of weeds, greens all extremely bad and lack of maintenance, the greens in the last 5 back holes the greens are abandoned and they install the flag in the fairway to simulate a green. the tees are worst that the green with no grass, it do not worth the money at all, there is no employees except the casher that give you welcome with your name. there is no food to supply, only water and maybe a couple of beers, the course is own by the bank and will be close the end of may to develop cows. its simple abandoned golf course before was the unique super nice golf course many years ago. but now,, not make tee time its a shame of these place right now.
Course in in terminal decline
The course closes in June and as a result is unmaintained. 15 greens only all of which are very poor. Tees horrible and no food in the clubhouse. Staff are very apologetic but that doesn't change the poor value you will receive if you elect to play here.
What a shame
What a shame. The course is closing the end of May 2014. A great layout with some really challenging holes but, there is nothing around it. The course went into bankruptcy two years ago and the bank has now decided to turn it into cow pastures. We had a beer and drank to the passing of another very good public course.
Upon arrival the starter told us to enjoy the day as the course will be closing for good the end of May.
This must have been known for a while as the fairways and greens were obviously neglected. One approaching the greens on about 4 holes they were temporary greens. We were told the bank owned it and would no longer pay for over seeding or further up keep. I wish we knew this in advance . What we thought was a bargain turned out to be a total waist of money!
Nice break from city. Wooded and challenging fairways.
Wooded and challenging holes. Few greens under repair or temp greens due to winter freezes. Should be great by end of June 2014 but still a nice round of golf.
Not at best but still good
Mtc taking place so not at its best , still good test of golf. We will go back this holiday.
First time at Diamondback but will not be the last. Greens were not at there best but this did not take away the beauty and difficulty of the course. Would recommend this course to all golfers of any ability. A true gem
We made our time and were never told that greens were aerified.
We get there and we were told that it was aerified and gave us dollars off but never told us.....ready......
3 TEMP greens on back nine!!!!
Place had weeds grown out around tees etc, could tell they had not mowed. We played on a Friday and they cant even make it look nice for the weekend???
Staff seems to know that the place is on trouble.... said they are trying to get money from bank to repair the greens (after we finished).
I would never go back there, in fact we had a group of 8 and none of us will go back.
Not being upfront with people is only going to bury this place faster.....what a shme was a nice place 2 years ago
THIS COURSE IS NOT WORTH THE TRIP TIME AND MONEY. I WOULD PLAY HERE AGAIN EVEN IF ITS FREE.
Great time great course.
Had a great time. The price was very reasonable and the staff were very friendly.
Very challenging! Course was great, greens need some work which there working on at the moment.
Overall the course really need
some work.Greens were in bad shape. Fairways were very sparse in many places.Looked like they were trying to get it back in shape, but it looks like it will take awhile for this to happen.
Nicely laid out course,I do wish them luck in restoring it.
We feel we have lost an old friend. Diamondback used to be one of our favourite courses in Florida, but its greens and fairways now need urgent attention. We so hope the finance can be found to restore this gem to its former glory.
Fun course but in terrible shape.
My friends and I live in the area and play here a couple times a year. But now this course is in terrible shape. The greens have been lost, only about 5 were even playable. This course has a lot of great holes but has been not kept up. It needs serious help. It is a shame, We will wait 4 months and see if it gets better. I hope so.
wait 2 years
loved it last time...more than disappointed this time....course should be closed until the greens are playable...the entire course was baked-out but the greens were literally patched ....completely unplayable.
Greens need work
I have played Diamondback many times before and have enjoyed it. I did enjoy playing there yesterday, however the greens were in horrible condition. I played there last summer and the greens were in good condition then, but now they are not. Two holes on the back nine had temporary greens made in front of the actual greens. I don't mind that there are temporary greens being used while the greens are being fixed, but it would have been nice if I was told which holes those temporary greens were on. I would recommend others to play even though the greens are not in good condition because overall Diamondback is a good course to play. Hopefully the greens will be better when I return in a month to play a tournament.
