#9 green, right in front of the clubhouse was by far the best conditioned of the day! Photo submitted by u547358672 on 03/15/2023

Quality course conditions and great overall experience.
Grey Rock
hadn't played rock since the city took it over. Course was in great shape. Around 12 or 13 we started to experience a slow down where we waited on several holes shots. There was no marshal that we saw. Turns out 2 groups had gotten together and played the last 4 holes as an 8 some. Course worth $42 to play.
No one controls !!
I LIKE THIS GOLF COURSE BUT IF YOU GO IN THE LATE AFTERNOON (I never done before)
NOBODY IS CONTROLLED WITH SLOW PEOPLE OR OVER PACKED PLYERS like SIX PEOPLE WITH TWO GOLF CLUBS AND KIDS RUNNING EVERYWHERE. I call pro shop But NOBODY DID ANYTHING ABOUT IT. .
WE LEFT AT 11th HOLE .
. WAISTED MONEY!!
Disappointed
For a course I genuinely like my foursome had a very disappointing experience. The ranger approached us on the ninth hole telling us to speed up play because they needed carts. We played the front 9 in 2 hrs 3 minutes. I’m not going to run. Second, we had two older gentleman in our foursome who were very concerned about Covid and we were all in separate carts. We started the round this way and checked in with the starter. At the turn a Grey Rock employees stopped our group and insisted we give up two carts because they needed them for other players. You have to wear a mask in the clubhouse for Covid but they wanted to force these older gentleman to ride with strangers so they could have more carts. When we tried to explain why they needed the carts due to covid the Grey Rock Employee said it was necessary for other players. Until we gave him $40.00 cash then suddenly the cart shortage was no longer a problem. It was never about carts, $40.00 cash and suddenly the other people that needed carts where not important. Dear Grey Rock please remember you are now a public golf course. You are a muni. You act like you are a private club but you are not. You are a city course. You are over priced for what you are and you act like your patrons are beneath you. When I brought my concerns about the day to the pro shop they could Not have cared less and basics said so what. I wonder what the city will say when I contact them Monday and explain they are forcing elderly players to ride with strangers so they will have more carts (unless you give them $40.00cash) then Suddenly the cart shortage is fixed. In the covid world we live in, if you can’t provide enough carts for the safety of the players then are are overbooking your rounds. You have a great course, but it’s over priced and you need to treat your patrons with respect. You are not a private club anymore, you are a public city course. You are a muni. Please act accordingly. I will be contacting the city and letting them know of my ruined day off and what should have been an enjoyable day turned into stress and unfortunately no fun. You took over $200.00 from my group to play and additional $40.00 to magically fix the cart shortage and ruined our entire groups experience and you couldn’t have cared less. Be better, our money pays yours bills.
Best Austin Public Course
I have my favorites, each for different reasons, but if I had to pick 1....I'm going with grey Rock
One thing
Beware
While standing on the tee box of the last hole today, #9....we were hit by not 1 ball, but 2. the first ball hit my friend in the leg, then another ball came bouncing by a minute later......BEWARE....the driving range is in the range....not cool
Grey Rock is Back Open
Played it Sunday evening just after reopening. Course was in very good shape after it's layoff. Greens rolled fast and true, albeit a touch hard BUT this was at the end of a 104 day. I suspect the greens are much softer in the AM. Fairways were lush and no significant dead spots anywhere. I'd put it on par with Falconhead in terms of conditions, maybe a touch better due to the closure.
Great course
Beautiful course
In good shape
Other reviews say greens are not in good shape...i found the greens fine. Ball rolls well. Not fast. Not slow.
Second time playing here.
Loved it
Grey Rock is premium Austin Golf
This course has come such a long way. It is in plush condition, the practice facilities are unbeatable and the greens are quicker than you'd think for not being a CC. Huge fan.
Great job
Course in excellent shape for a public course. Pace of play excellent since very few people there will be back
Purse consitions
Outstanding had a great time very few people playing golf due to the heat played in a little over 3 hours
Nice course. Range closed
Covid-19
Noon tee time on a weekend. Full rate but Range was closed. For $84 a person, the range should be included. If the range is closed, rate should be reduced
Good shape, no carts
Enjoyed the layout and opportunity to work shots both ways on this many moguls course. The greens were in good condition and the fairways were cut well. The OBs were clearly marked and grass cut right up to the lines---which is appreciated during milkweed and other weeds growing season upon us. Be ready to walk a 1/2 mile--truly--from the clubhouse to the 1st tee.
