Reston National Golf Course

My first time experience at Reston National left me with the feeling I was playing a private course..I have played through out the winter and this course is so much further along in terms of preperations than anything I have played in the last two weeks... fairways are lush. First and second cuts are impeccable... greens are almost there.

It doesn’t help that the greens had just been aerated (I feel like they should tell you this on the booking sites), but even off the greens was just terrible. The tee boxes were virtually all dirt with some sprouts coming through, cart path is beat up, fairways and greens are consistently beat up and patchy. Unfortunately it’s a convenient course if you live in Reston which is why I went this day, but I honestly don’t think I will go back. I would have gone elsewhere for the money if I’d know the condition the course was in. It used to be so much better cared for years ago. Hope they turn it around..

We had a 3:24 tee time. When my group showed up there was 6 groups on the first tee box.. We tee off 50 minutes after are tee time. We were only able to play 9 holes due to darkness. I do not think I would play here again if the over book.

Staff is great and course is in solid shape for this early in the season

Great course and usually in good condition, however having a tee time every 8 minutes means waiting for almost every shot due to golfers in front.

Only con was lady's tee is not on the original tee box. Other than that, awesome as usual.

Any golf in December is a bonus but the course was in fairly poor condition- mostly due to recent rain. The greens were nice, however, but slow. Overall, a nice layout but rumors are that this course may be closing in a couple of years so they may not be spending the money for proper upkeep.

Nice course layout. Fairways in somewhat rough condition. Nice greens but very slow. Slow greens can be of comparable quality to fast greens. Many ball marks needed fixing. I would play again.

Condition than most. Greens were full but perhaps a little slow. Tee boxes were being worked. Many were sanded. But overall good. Bunkers were either in good shape or awful. Seems they’ve let a few go. Perhaps the plan is to convert some sand bunkers to grass. Almost five hour round which is common here. Tariff was quite Reasonable on GOLFNOW with prepayment. Nice day. No beverage cart but drinking water on course was cold could be a couple

Make it So much better.

Consistently very slow pace of play year after year. Tee times to close together and no Marshall. Course is always is good condition, solid layout, great location and friendly staff.

Nice layout with a good practice area. Staff was very nice. Pace of play was brutal.

Fairways needed cutting as well as some repair. Lots of burnt out areas. Rough was slightly deeper than normal and needed some major weed killer application.

For the price they charge, this course is far from worth the money. Not sure the last time I played a course that had VERY recently been aerated and didn't offer some sort of comp or warning. Full price for an aerated course with burned out fairways and lack of recent cutting/rolling was incredibly disappointing. Almost felt as if they aerated and said "well, the greens are going to be bad regardless, why cut them this week?"

Played an aerated course of much better reputation in the area two days prior and not only did they give a 50% discount, but they had been cutting and rolling greens daily to keep them playable.
